Attention everyone: While Springboard remains neutral on politics, we proudly support democracy and respectful public discourse. If you are running for office, we welcome you to host a meet & greet at the coffee shop to introduce yourself to prospective constituents.

I apologize for a soap box rant of sorts, but in the past few decades, as a society, there has been a dramatic shift from engaging people in public to doing so exceedingly online. The internet absolutely has its place but there is something lost when we are only engaging with others on social platforms. One of the reasons I felt it was important to open Springboard was to create another third-space; somewhere neutral where people could meet for whatever reason. Difficult and divisive topics can be…well, difficult and divisive. When people have to talk face to face versus online, there is no question you are speaking to another human being with feelings and empathy. In these meetings, we learn how to find common ground or respectfully disagree. This is not always the case interacting through social media.

So come to Springboard not just to have an amazing latte and chat with friends, but come talk about the difficult things too. If you are a politician, host a meet and greet here. If you are a voter, (respectfully!) encourage people running for office or your representatives to host them here. This is how we strengthen our community 💕
