Well scoop heads, this is going to be a bittersweet post, but that’s okay.
We will be closing down Gus’s at the end of this year.
Simply put, priorities have changed and we’re ready to step away from the business for a little while. While we’ve always wanted to branch out and have our own shop, we’ve also come to realize that we don’t want it at this moment in life. Lots of honest conversations and prayer have been had within our family the last few months and we’ve decided that this is the right step for us.
There’s nothing else to this decision. It’s as plain and simple as that.
We’ve had the shop open for just shy of 7 years, and we’ve loved every single minute of it! We cannot thank everyone enough for all the support, love and encouragement over all these years.
We’re especially thankful for Joy and Jason for allowing us to have had a home at Cordell's since the birth of the company. Gus’s honestly would not have gotten off the ground without them. We came to them with an idea, and they gave us a safe place to develop and launch it.
For anyone wondering, there will still be gelato served at Cordell’s. We are working with Joy and Jason to come up with a recipe that they can continue to use in affogatos and on top of brownies 🙂.
Like we said, this bittersweet as we are sad to see the end of an amazing season of life, but we’re also very excited to see what the next one holds.
Know that this is not the end of Gus’s forever. We still very much have a passion to do something with it in the future. What that ends up being, we have no clue. But, we’re not ready to completely let it go. We’re simply pressing pause on it for now.
So, again, to all of you, thank you! We love you and appreciate everything that the past ~7 years have brought!
