We had some special guests visit us today! The amazingly kind and accomplished team from Swensons Drive-In Restaurants came to see what the fuss about Bob’s is all about and they left with full bellies and a smile :))
No matter how you voted in the Akron Beacon Journal best burger contest, we can all agree that The Original Bobs Hamburg and Swenson’s are a part of the greasy fabric that makes Akron an authentic burger destination!

Big congratulations to Swensons Drive-In Restaurants on taking home Best Burger in Akron!

From all of us at Bob’s Hamburg — nothing but respect. Akron has a serious burger scene, and Swensons continues to prove why they’re a hometown favorite.

We’re proud to take 2nd place and even more proud to be part of a community that loves great food as much as we do. Competitions like this just push all of us to keep raising the bar (and stacking it higher).

If you haven’t had a Swensons burger yet… go get one.
And when you’re ready to try the runner-up 😉 — we’ll have the grill hot and waiting.

Congrats to my buddy Charly Murphy proprietor of The Original Bobs Hamburg the iconic burger joint on East Avenue for giving Swenson’s a run for the money in the Beacon’s Best Burger contest. I was really hoping you guys would pull out the win. True transparency…I feel a tad Un-Akrony (as Charly puts it) as I’ve never had a burger from the famous Akron spot. I guess I’m not Mr. Akron after all. 😜 I’m gonna change that real soon. From everything I’ve heard Charly and his team have brought the burger joint back to its prominence gained since 1931. Great job friend…I think you guys are gonna be flipping a few more burgers in the coming days. Well Deserved 👏

Thank you to all the customers and fans in Akron that gave us the warm and fuzzies by voting and voting to help us stay in the competition put on by the Akron Beacon Journal these last few weeks! It’s been a blast seeing our fans show up in the comment sections praising Akron’s Oldest hole-in-the-wall burger joint! We are forever proud to be the caretakers of Bob’s Hamburg and you’ve shown us that we are doing the Bob’s legacy the right way! Unfortunately, we didn’t beat out Swensons for the honor of “Best in Akron” but we are so happy to have been in the competition and make it so far. Thank you, Akron! We love you!
