Hamilton Street Cafe Located in the heart of Center Square, Hamilton St Cafe has been feeding downtown Albany for 24 years Hamilton Street Cafe is Albany's hidden down town gem.

Just a short walk from Empire State Plaza, Hamilton Street Cafe is easy to get to and easier to enjoy. But if you can't tear yourself away from the desk, we will gladly bring lunch to you. We have wraps, sandwiches, soups and salads, and more. Everyday we cook up a mouth watering hot special and fresh baked, homemade cookies. We are OPEN today, 10:30-1:30, with our special Mardi Gras menu. Hope you can stop in! We have those Triple Chocolate cookies for your Valentine (or yourself!), too. We've added Jambalaya w/shrimp, chicken, and sausage for $12. It's a dinner-size portion and it re-heats really well.

To answer some questions about Mardi Gras food...

Shrimp Po'Boy- crispy fried shrimp over a bed of shredded cabbage and sliced tomato, in a toasted brioche roll. Topped w/homemade Remoulade sauce (tartar sauce on steroids). We add a side of macaroni salad and some chips.

Jambalaya- a mildly spicy rice dish w/andouille sausage, chicken, shrimp, peppers, celery, onion, tomato. Ours is a dinner-sized portion, and it re-heats very well. Add hot sauce to your preference.

Gumbo- a smoky stew of andouille sausage, chicken, peppers, celery, onions, okra, served over rice. Not too spicy. We will offer dinner-sized portions, as well as 'soup' cup/bowls/pints. It re-heats very well.

Muffuletta- layers of ham, mortadella, Genoa salami, provolone, Swiss, with our housemade olive salad, packed inside a round loaf of semolina bread. We'll offer whole loaves (serves 4), halves, and quarters (single serving, about 1/4 # meat and cheese, equivalent to a regular-sized sandwich)

Bananas Foster crepes- sauteed bananas in warm rum sauce over a homemade crepe, with side of vanilla ice cream. We offer it in 'take-home' containers, so you can re-heat at home. You will not regret getting this.

In case you missed it, we will be OPEN next THURSDAY, 2/12 for some Mardi Gras fun. The menu is a work in progress, but there will be Shrimp Po'boys, Jambalaya, Gumbo, MUFFULETTAS!! (we have a bunch of orders already!!), Gourmet Mac and Cheese, Chili, Cream of Turkey w/rice, Macaroni salad, Peanut Noodles. Pecan Squares, TRIPLE CHOCOLATE COOKIES (for Valentines Day). Final menu will be posted on Monday. Yes, we'll take pre-orders. Sorry, no scones this time.

Ok, enough teasing. We will be OPEN next Thursday, 2/12. The menu isn't set yet, but there will be Mardi Gras-themed items. Definitely muffalettas (whole/half-/quarter-cuts), jambalaya, gumbo, shrimp po'boys. Triple Chocolate cookies. Plus, some of the usual-- macaroni salad, chili, cream of turkey w/rice. More to follow. We're excited!

This is half of a muffaletta. It's probably enough for two servings, although one very hungry person could eat the whole thing. It's layers of ham, provolone, Genoa salami, Swiss, and mortadella, packed with our housemaid olive salad into a semolina loaf. There's nothing quite like it.
