Quail have been relocated from incubator to brooder. Definitely took Heather Keen advice and just put the the whole incubator in brooder when I turned them loose so they didn't "yeet"😂 themselves everywhere as soon as I opened it. Worked out great!

I had 12 hatch out of 20. One croaked shortly after hatch. 1 dud egg with no development. Then 7 were fully developed but never pipped. 5 of them were in the wrong end of egg🙄. So that was a bummer. Not bad for first-time incubating and hatching Quail. Everything was fertlized! All but one developed and made it to lockdown. I say that's pretty darn good!

So I got the brooder set up. Vitamin/electrolyte water. Made a gourmet meal of turkey mash starter feed(no time to grind food here😆), chili powder(increases the villi length in the GI tract for better nutrition absorption and overall growth), and berry flavored suet nuggets(adds flavor to encourage better eating plus some additional fat for these higher energy for game birds).

Well after almost a week of soul sucking heat that would give Hades a run for it's money, we got some rain heading our way the next 4 days. But I just know that this week of ungodly humidity was just to charge the atmosphere for the typical NOPE storms that probably will hand my butt to me on a platter. How do I know this? Because I have 3 incubators in lockdown currently hatching and 2 others full of eggs due to be in lockdown during this upcoming NOPE weather. Mother Nature certainly has a wicked sense of humor and obviously gets a chuckle out of watching me hatch on a generator. So generator is gassed up, oil checked, and ready to rock and roll. Tornado box for all my power cords is at ready. Thankfully, my new incubator rack has made it easier to run just one cord now to a central location where everything is instead of turning my kitchen into a war zone. I'll get all the brooders upstairs hooked to one power cord with a multiple head so all I have to do is run one line downstairs for hookup, it'll be faster, more efficient, and much easier. Prayers this is overkill and nothing happens. Either way, better to be safe than sorry.
