Meet our new coffee, Tarrazú San Diego Honey from Costa Rica. This is an exceptional coffee with a special story: purchases help fund contributions to Fundación Pro Zoológicos , a nonprofit conservation foundation that protects and promotes the natural biodiversity of Costa Rica and is working to protect jaguars! ☕️❤️🐆
Jaguars are an important umbrella species; its conservation ensures the protection of a large number of other species. Jaguars need a lot of space to live and migrate across Central and South America. Since the beginning of the program, more than $20,000 has been raised for Fundazoo’s jaguar program.
Coffee from the Tarrazú region, in an interior mountain range in the center of the country, is considered the best of Costa Rica. The honey process was started in Costa Rica and has since spread to other countries in Central America. In this process, some or all of the mucilage of the coffee cherry—coffee honey—that coats the parchment is left on during the drying stage, allowing the natural sugars to enhance the coffee’s sweetness. The coffee is then dried on African beds or patios, allowing the coffee to dry in a slow and even way.
This coffee features tasting notes of stone fruit, citrus, almond and honey. We hope you try this exceptional coffee at an upcoming market!
