😲 Alpena!! We are feeling the love! You guys have wiped us out of all the food already!

So, here is the deal: we will be closed Thursday (9/28) and Friday (9/29) to prepare to be open one last time on Saturday (9/30). Peter is going to make lots and lots of Russian Soup and serve food as long as it lasts on Saturday!

Family, friends, and loyal patrons,

At age 71, the time has come for me to retire, and so, Mandarin Garden's doors will open for the last time September 30, 2023. For 30 years I have been cooking and serving this wonderful community and in return you have supported my family for which I will forever be grateful. I have seen generations of families enjoy my food over the years and hope that the memories they created-- family meals, celebrations, birthdays, weddings, reunions, graduations-- are all as special to them as they truly are to me.

My sincerest thanks to all the employees that have put their hard work in for me over the years. My deepest gratitude to all of the other individuals and companies that helped my business thrive--Gordon Foods, Consolidated Fruit, Royal Foods, Leavesley Construction, all the plumbing heating and cooling companies, Dependable Lawn Care, Straley Lamp & Kraenzlein, Seiss Construction- the list goes on.

A very special thank you to Evelyn Walat for helping me make my restaurant dreams come true and supporting me through the journey from the very beginning. Thank you to my kids and their spouses for putting your blood, sweat, and tears into Mandarin to keep the wheels turning and making sure it kept up with the times.

Serving the Alpena community has been the highlight of my life, but I am ready to spend time with my family, visit my home country, and go fishing! I wish everyone good health and good fortune and again, thank you for your love and loyalty.

Today is Chef Peter Chen's 70th Birthday! 🥳 Tomorrow, we will have served Alpena for 28 years!🥡 Thank you all so much for continuing to visit us for take out. Things around here sure are different from 28 years ago, but Peter's passion to feed people has not changed and is still going strong!
