Mijo,
I sat for countless hours watching the incredibly talented artist, Victor Ayala Kart, bring you to life on a wall alongside your abuelito Antonio and your grandfather Hap. As he carefully sketched, painted, and added color to each detail, it felt as though pieces of our family’s story were being woven together before my eyes. The mural is absolutely breathtaking, filled with the warmth, strength, wisdom, and love of the men who helped shape our family.
My emotions were everywhere. There were moments I smiled, moments I cried, and moments I simply sat in silence wishing you were here. You should be here for every step of our journey and every success we experience. You were, and always will be, a huge part of the foundation of Class-1 Barbeque, LLC.
As I looked at the mural, I couldn’t help but think about the legacy behind it. Your abuelito Antonio and your grandfather Hap brought decades of barbecue experience, knowledge, and tradition that helped lay the groundwork for what Class-1 BBQ would become. They taught the value of hard work, patience, perseverance, and taking pride in feeding people. You took those lessons and made them your own, adding your passion, creativity, and dedication as a pitmaster. Class-1 BBQ is more than a business—it is a reflection of generations of family, sacrifice, tradition, and love.
But your greatest legacy isn’t the barbecue. First and foremost, it is your servant’s heart for Yahuah. It is the way you loved people, the way you served others, and the faith you carried. It is your beautiful children, who remind me of you every single day through their smiles, their personalities, and the pieces of you that live on in them. It is the love you gave, the lessons you taught, and the countless lives you touched.
As I watched your image emerge on that mural, standing beside the two men whose wisdom helped shape our family’s barbecue journey, I was reminded that legacies do not end. They continue through the lives we touch and the values we leave behind. Although your physical presence is deeply missed beyond words, your legacy remains alive. It lives in your children. It lives in our family. It lives in the stories we tell. It lives in every smoker fired up at Class-1 BBQ. And it lives in the hearts of so many people who love and miss you every day.
We would give anything to have you here, but until we meet again, we will continue to honor you, carry your memory forward, and thank Yahuah for the gift of having had you in our lives.
