This cake may not have taken home a ribbon, but it still feels like a win to me.

With only days left before the entry deadline for the East Idaho State Fair, I accidentally dropped and broke my original design and had to start completely from scratch.

The handcrafted wafer paper flowers and butterflies take days to create, so I knew finishing on time would be a challenge, even with a simpler design.

There were moments I wanted to give up but thanks to the encouragement of my family and friends, I kept going—and I’m so grateful for their support.

Even without a ribbon, the experience taught me so much. Pushing through challenges reminded me of the importance of perseverance and determination—lessons that will continue to fuel my baking journey as I learn and grow.
