💜 Friends… you showed up for Hot Donna. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. 💜

Because of you, and this incredible community, we’ve already raised almost $500 for Donna’s family through our Hot Donna dogs.

If you haven’t heard the story, Donna (our friend, known to many as Hot Donna, her skater name with Rage City Roller Derby) always ordered two sausages in one bun…her famous “fewer carbs” order. So, it only felt right to put her special request on the menu and donate the additional $5 from every Hot Donna sold directly to her family.

🌭 Tomorrow at the Backyard BBQ at Sullivan Arena will be our LAST Anchorage event before we head to the Tanana Valley State Fair and then the Alaska State Fair.

If you’ve been meaning to stop by, tomorrow is the PERFECT time.

We’re here at Bear Paw Festival and ready to serve! We did have a bit of an electrical problem this morning (rain and electricity doesn’t mix- who knew?🙄😬), but we pivoted and brought out the Glizzy Goddess!

We are doing the Hot Donna, so have no fear!!

Finally having a chance to reflect on the day and I had a thought….

Wouldn’t it be amazing if EVERY dog we served tomorrow became a Hot Donna? 💜🌭

Tomorrow, during our final day at Bear Paw Festival, we’re asking our Tiki Pete’s family and friends to help us honor someone who meant the world to us.

For just $5 extra, we’ll make any dog a Hot Donna by adding a second sausage—and 100% of that $5 will go directly to Donna’s family.

Donna’s “signature” order was always two wieners in one bun. She’d laugh and say, “Fewer carbs!” It became such a part of who she was that we simply started calling it a Hot Donna. 💜

Now, we’re hoping our community will rally around her family the same way Donna always rallied around those she loved. Which we all know she did.

Today was tough, not gonna lie. But, the way Alaskans come together and support one another is like nothing else.

Thank you. Thank you, friends. Thank you, friends of Donna. Thank you, perfect strangers who were stranded on the road while the tragedy unfolded. Thank you, first responders. And, thank you, Alaskans. You all made this tough day into a day of beauty. And Hot Donna’s. And stories. And love. So much love.

We were so busy at Bear Paw Festival that I didn’t have much time to take photos. But, the love and donations are real.

Tyler is set up at the Showdown Alaska summer concert series on F Street tonight. She is accepting donations and slinging Hot Donna’s, too.

And, we’ll be back tomorrow. Let’s see how many Hot Donna’s we can make! I’m ready!

Some people come into your life and become part of your story forever.

Donna, our beloved Hot Donna, was one of those people. 💜

Our hearts are absolutely broken over the tragic loss of our dear friend. Donna wasn’t just a customer at Tiki Pete’s, she was family. She was the kind of person who could light up a room with her smile, make you laugh without even trying, and leave everyone she met just a little happier than before.

If you knew Donna, you knew she had her order, two sausages in one bun. “Less carbs,” she’d say with that beautifully unmistakable smile. Before long, it wasn’t just a special order anymore. It became a Hot Donna. That’s what we’ve called it ever since, and that’s what we’ll continue to call it.

Every Hot Donna we serve will remind us of a woman who left a permanent mark on our hearts.

Our hearts also ache for Donna’s husband, Matt, aka Matt Daddy, who witnessed the unimaginable, and for their precious one-year-old son, who is currently bravely fighting in the ICU. We cannot begin to imagine the pain their family is carrying, and we ask everyone to please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

To help support the family during this incredibly difficult time, Tiki Pete’s will donate $5 from every Hot Donna sold directly to Donna’s family. We’ll also have a donation jar at our window for anyone who would like to contribute a little extra.

Donna, our dear friend, thank you for every hug, every laugh, every visit, and every memory. Thank you for becoming part of our family, the Tiki Pete’s family. We will never forget you, and your legacy will live on every time someone orders a Hot Donna.
