To all our loyal fans: As we close this chapter, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who joined us for dinner during our final month. It was truly heartwarming to hear the many stories and connections you all have with our restaurant. Your kind words and shared memories reminded us of the special place we've held in this community for the past 45 years.

We are excited to announce that the sale has been completed, and the new owners will soon be taking over. For those interested in taking a piece of our history home, we are offering memorabilia from the restaurant! Available items include our beloved menus, chairs, and more. We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelmingly positive responses we've received following our retirement announcement. The outpouring of congratulations and shared stories has deeply moved us. As we reflect on our 45-year journey, we can't help but feel nostalgic about our humble beginnings. For those who are unaware, our culinary adventure started at the Girdwood Forest Fair, where we sold Spaceway Sausages under a tent. From there, we evolved into 'The Wednesday Night Gourmet Wine Tasting Society and Volleyball Team Which Now Meets on Sunday,' serving weekly dinners at the Jade Room. Finally, in 1979 we purchased one of the first homes built in Anchorage, which we remodeled to become The Marx Bros. Cafe. We hope you enjoy this glimpse from our past, and look forward to serving you dinner one last time!

Dear Loyal Customers,

It is with a mix of emotions that we inform you of an important change at Marx Bros Cafe. After 45 wonderful years, Van and Jack have made the decision to retire. While this marks the end of an era for us, we are also filled with excitement for the new chapter that awaits us.

Throughout these decades, it has been our privilege to serve you and to be a part of your special moments and celebrations. Your patronage and loyalty have meant the world to us, and we cannot thank you enough for your support over the years.

We invite you to join us for dinner one last time before we close our doors for good. Our final night of operation will be Saturday, August 31st. To commemorate this occasion, from August 27-31st, we will be offering a special 5-course prix fixe dinner with a wine pairing. Detailed menus and seating times will be announced soon. Please note that online reservations will not be available for the last week of service, so we kindly ask that you call us to secure your table.

On behalf of Van, Jack, and the entire Marx Bros staff, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your friendship, support, and patronage over the past 45 years. It has been an honor to serve you, and we hope to see you one more time as we celebrate the end of this chapter together.

Dear loyal customers, it has come to our attention that some people are under the impression that Marx Bros has closed or will be closing soon. We would like to assure you that this is not true! While Van and Jack would like to retire and are currently looking to sell the restaurant to a new operator, as of now, we are open and excited to continue to serve our beloved community. Please rest assured that if there is a sale in the future, we will be sure to notify you through our email list and social media. In the meantime, we hope you stop in or make a reservation for dinner. We are open Tuesday through Saturday from 5-9pm. We look forward to seeing you soon!
