On July 8, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was read aloud publicly for the first time. This Wednesday, communities across the nation will mark the 250th anniversary of that historic moment by reading the Declaration aloud once again.

Join us in Andover on Wednesday, July 8 at 5:45 PM in The Park for a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a brief community ceremony.

The event will be immediately followed by Concerts in The Park, featuring Red Solo Cup, a Toby Keith cover band.

We hope to see you there as Andover joins communities across the country in commemorating this important moment in American history.

251 years ago, in 1775, Andover residents climbed to the top of Holt Hill, the highest point in Essex County, to watch the Battle of Bunker Hill unfold in the distance.

Join the Town of Andover at 4:00 PM for a commemorative walk to the summit of Holt Hill at the Charles W. Ward Reservation. Come experience this historic landscape and commemorate a pivotal moment in American history.

Participants should meet at 34 Prospect Road and plan to park at 4:00 PM. A brief ceremony will take place at the top of the hill at approximately 4:30 PM. Parking is limited, and carpooling is encouraged.
