Fire restoration update! Wow oh wow oh wow are we missing our people. It feels like it’s been FOREVER! 💔 The good news is the wait is almost over and we’re in the homestretch. While we were hoping to reopen around this time, we ran into a few setbacks with additional work needing to be done to the building to bring it up to code. At this point, we are waiting for our building plans to be approved by the city and then comes putting all the puzzle pieces of the cafe back together - rebuilding the interior, ordering and installing equipment, paint and decor, etc. There is still much to be done but it is feeling like the end is finally in sight! As soon as we have more updates and a date for reopening, we will post them here. Thank you so much for your patience and support! The grand reopening should be just in time for patio weather ☺️

It’s been *SEVEN YEARS* since Aaron and I purchased Juicy Kitchen! There’s been a whole lotta ups and downs along the way - building the most talented and best team, expanding our wholesale production, fostering a fantastic community, and making so many lasting friendships while also navigating a global pandemic, rapid inflation, and a fire, on top of the other typical challenges independent restaurants face. Small business ownership is not for the faint of heart, that’s for sure. Throughout it all though, we’ve had the unwavering support of our community and that’s what always gets us through. Your continued support, donations to our GoFundMe, willingness to pivot with us through changes, and words of encouragement have made seven years of successful business ownership possible. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️ We can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with you in person SOON! Long live Juicy!!! 🥳

Fire restoration update ❤️‍🔥 The cafe’s facelift is in full effect! All of its contents have been removed for cleaning and the structural repairs have begun. Our contractors are working as quickly as possible to get us back up and running! It’s still hard to say exactly what our reopening date will be, but we’re crossing our fingers & toes for Feb-ish. 🤞🏼 To say that we are looking forward to that happy happy reopening day would be a total understatement 🥰🎉

It’s been said that the cost of convenience is community. We live in a world where with a couple clicks of our fingers, we can have groceries and gifts delivered to our front door. Life moves so fast and is a constant balancing act of priorities, so it’s no wonder these options have become so popular. But maybe what we really need is to slow it all down - to take the extra time to drive down to our local coffee shop and bump into an old friend, to seek the local shop owners advice on a gift, to ask the farmers at the market which squash you should have with dinner. Life is not perfect and neither are we - sometimes the faster, more convenient shopping options are used out of necessity. But if we all made an effort to change up even just a couple of our shopping habits to support the small businesses in our area, I think we’d be reminded just how valuable community is. Small businesses may not be able to compete with all that bigger brands have to offer in terms of convenience, but man oh man do they make up for it tenfold with what they do for our communities. They care to get to know you, provide jobs, source intentionally from other small producers, give away gift cards for school fundraisers, keep dollars local, and make our city vibrant and unique. This holiday season, consider swapping the online scrolling for downtown strolling! ❤️ and THANK YOU for supporting our small business, it truly means the world! We can’t wait to get back to serving you all soon 🥰

We wish we were serving up our favorite Smoked Whitefish Melt to our favorite people in our favorite place! ❤️‍🩹 The good news is, we are seeing serious progress on the restoration of the cafe. We are SO grateful to all the hardworking folks who are working to get us back up and running. Thank you for bearing with us in the meantime and know we are missing you all like crazy! 😘

Just dropping in to tell our Juicy community just how much we miss you! 🥺❤️‍🩹 we miss our convos, seeing your kids, making your latte just the way you like it, cooking your favorite dish, hanging with your dog on our patio. Our cafe is the special place it is because of the people who fill it up. The repairs are coming along and we are thinking of all the ways we can make our space even better for you when we reopen. We really, really do! 😞❤️‍🩹 Going from waking up everyday to serve and work with the people we love to just NOT so quickly and unexpectedly feels strange. It will still be a couple months before we are able to reopen, but we have a lot to be grateful for in the meantime. Thanks to your generous contributions to our GoFundMe, we will be able to retain our amazing staff. (thank you, thank you, thank you!!!) The cafe is getting a facelift and we have a chance to pause and think about what we want it to be when we reopen. We are finding the silver linings and feeling hopeful for the future. There was unfortunately a fire at the cafe tonight - everyone is ok, most importantly!!! - and we will temporarily be closed. Thanks to our wholesale team and the Ann Arbor fire department, it was quickly put out. If not for them, things could have been a lot worse. We are so grateful for everyone’s safety and quick response. This situation is obviously heartbreaking, we love our sweet little cafe so much. But our hearts are warmed by everyone who’s heard the news and immediately asked what they can do to help. ❤️ We will post updates as soon as we have them and hope to be back to serving the community we love so dearly soon.
