Did you know that we used to serve breakfast? My favorite menu item was the malted pancakes, they were one of a kind and delicious 😋 I still have some more recipe ideas and a great name for a breakfast cafe ☕️ 🍳 🥓 🍞 look at those low prices, wish we could go back to that!

The lights at Spurlock’s Malt Shop may be off for a while, but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop! We’re keepin’ the nostalgia alive with a little soda fountain know-how 💕

One of our most asked questions at the shop was, “what’s the difference between a shake and a malt?” 🍦🍦🍦

🥤 Milkshake vs. Malt… what’s the scoop?

💗Milkshake:
A smooth operator—just ice cream, sweet cream, milk, and toppings blended up into that classic creamy treat we all know and love.

💗 Malt:
Now this one’s got a little extra pep in its step! It’s a milkshake with malted milk powder added in ✨ it’s the nostalgic taste you didn’t know you were missin’ 😋

🍦 So what exactly IS malted milk powder?

It’s an old-fashioned favorite made from malted barley, milk, and a touch of wheat flour. It gives a malt that rich, slightly toasty, almost nutty flavor that takes you straight back to the good ol’ days.

🤷‍♀️ so which is your fave? What flavor is your fave?

🩷 My favorite is a chocolate malt with extra malt
and I dip my fresh, crispy, salty, French fries in it 🤭

We may be in-between locations right now, but we’re still right here dreamin’, plannin’, and countin’ down the days until we’re back grilllin’ burgers on that old flat top, and mixin’ up all your favorites again 💕

the Malt Shop will stay, with or without Spurlock’s. I do know it was in the contract that the sign HAS to stay so I’m assuming the building will too, as it should, although it will need renovation. The Malt Shop is historic to Anna, Spurlock’s is not and that is the issue and also why we weren’t able to stay. There is so much to the story that I’m not willing or able to share. Mike and I love that little shop just as much as we loved my grandpas shop in west Texas and only wanted to help bring it to life again and serve the food we loved and grew up on. We never knew we’d become a THORN in the historic side of matters in Anna. We miss it so much and it was devastating to our family to be evicted during the holidays as this was our sole income. We will keep searching for our perfect location and prayerfully be serving the community in some capacity in the near future. Prayers are appreciated and please don’t forget us and what you all meant to us. During our beginning days in 2012 we weren’t sure we’d make it through the year but we did and only by the grace of God and the faithfulness of those that love that little shop and the memories. We don’t know the future, only that we will keep working and praying for a place to put down new roots. The image I am posting is one that was posted in an anna community group and it is just awesome and can only be described as my dream! There were many comments under it so I just wanted to address a few. Isn’t this image dreamy 💖💖💖 love it!!!!

Back in October, we were in the kitchen cooking up your DoorDash orders… today, Mike and I are out delivering them.
A few months ago, we were one of the top 3 most requested restaurants in Anna, and DoorDash even blessed us with a bonus because of YOU. Now, we’re doing what we have to do to make ends meet while we work toward getting our shop back up and running.
Things have changed—but our heart hasn’t. 💗
We still believe in our restaurant. 🍔
We know we have good food. 🍦
And we KNOW we had the absolute BEST customers. 💕
And I’ll be honest… every time I walk into a restaurant to pick up a DoorDash order, I have to fight the urge not to tie on an apron and jump behind the counter to help! 😂🙌 I guess once it’s in your blood, it never really leaves you.
We miss flipping burgers, mixing shakes, and seeing your smiling faces more than we can put into words. 🍔🍦
We appreciate every prayer 🙏, every kind thought 💗, every suggestion, and every comment you leave on our page. Please keep engaging with us—we don’t want to be forgotten, and we’re holding onto hope that we’ll be back soon. 🙏💕

Sometimes the road gets a little bumpy… but we’re not giving up on Spurlock’s 💪
We’re still in the fight and currently looking into a couple more buildings to see if they might be the right fit for us. We’re hopeful, staying positive, and doing everything we can to get back where we belong.

Spurlock’s family, we wanted to give y’all a quick update. The location we had been working toward is no longer an option, so it looks like we’ll be starting the search again.
We won’t lie… we feel a little beat up right now, but we’re still in this fight. We believe in Spurlock’s and we truly love what we do. Serving this community means the world to us, and we’re not giving up on flipping burgers again soon. 🍔
Thank you for always taking the time to read our posts, leave comments, share ideas, and send prayers. Your encouragement truly keeps us going more than you know.
Please keep the prayers coming as we begin this next chapter of the search. We’re hopeful that before long we’ll be back behind the grill serving our amazing community again.

Friends & family, we could really use your prayers. 🤍🖤🩷

By the middle of March, we should know if everything is officially accepted and if we’ll be able to begin renovations, move into a new building, and reopen Spurlock’s Malt Shop 🍦

It feels like it’s been forever since we had to close on November 1. These past months have stretched us in ways we didn’t expect — but we’ve held onto Jesus, our greatest hope 🙏

We’re keeping the location a secret just a little longer, but we promise to share as soon as we get the final OK.

March is my birthday month, and if this all comes together, it will truly be the best birthday present I’ve ever received. 🩷
We are excited. We are nervous. And we are so ready for this new chapter in our lives.
Thank you for sticking by us, for your kindness, your sweet messages, and for always covering us in prayer. It means more than you know.
