Some things are worth waiting for… and our Homemade Bacon Jam Burger is definitely one of them!

Next Friday and Saturday, we’re bringing back one of our most-loved specials, piled high with our housemade bacon jam. We start with bacon, then slowly cook it down with a blend of sweet and savory flavors until it becomes a rich, smoky, caramelized bacon jam that’s the perfect topping for a juicy burger.

It’s not something that comes out of a jar.. it’s made from scratch right here in our kitchen, and it’s the reason so many of you ask, “When are the Bacon Jam Burgers coming back?”

If you’re a regular, you probably know my love for books.. especially the ones that tell the stories of the people and places that made our communities what they are today. 📚

I found this little gem this week, and it was too good not to share. It tells the story of the more than seven million people who came to the United States from German-speaking lands, many making their way up the Missouri River and establishing the towns and communities we still call home today.

It even includes mentions of Jefferson City, Westphalia, and the surrounding areas that are part of our own history. Our misters devoured it in an afternoon!

It will be joining the rest of our local history books behind the counter. If you enjoy a good story, learning about our roots, or just want something to flip through while you’re here, feel free to ask.

A little reminder that Rock Island has more than just good food and cold drinks.. we’ve got a small collection of stories waiting to be discovered too. 🖤

It’s Wing Wednesday at Rock Island Bar & Grill!

Some traditions are worth keeping, and Wing Wednesday is one of them.

For years, Wednesdays have meant fresh, hot wings, with a plethora of sauces to choose from, and gathering with friends right here at Rock Island. We’re proud to be the place where so many Wing Wednesday memories were made, and we’re grateful for everyone who has made it a weekly tradition with us.

Whether you’re craving your favorite sauce or trying a new flavor, your wings will be served fresh and hot.

Good morning, everyone! We hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

We sure stayed busy! This weekend we trimmed trees, finished insulating the addition and picked up all of the sheetrock. It’s exciting to finally see things moving forward, and you’ll probably hear more progress throughout the week when you stop in.

The last few years haven’t unfolded the way we imagined. Between hospital stays, insurance battles, strokes, multiple surgeries.. equaling countless delays with the addition, it’s been a long road. There were moments when it felt like every step forward came with two steps back.

But we’re still here, and we’re still determined.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every one of you who has stood by Rock Island Bar & Grill through it all. Thank you for your patience with our shortened hours, schedule changes, and everything else we’ve had to navigate. Most of all, thank you for continuing to walk through our doors, share a meal, and support our family.

Your kindness, encouragement, and loyalty have meant more than you’ll ever know. We truly wouldn’t be here without you.
