Peggy’s creation: DYK that it was Peggy Swicegood that created the BBQ Tray? She wanted a simply light way to enjoy Little Pigs. The tray comes with bbq, slaw & 3 hush puppies. The perfect size for those smaller appetites.

Dear Little Pigs Family,

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Peggy Swicegood, who has gone to reunite with her husband, Joe, the love of her life. Peggy and Joe founded Little Pigs in 1963, building it into Asheville's longest-running independently owned and family-run restaurant—a true testament to their dedication, warmth, and unwavering spirit.

Over the decades, so many of you who walked through our doors became more than customers; you became cherished friends. You greeted Peggy and Joe with smiles, shared stories at the counter, enjoyed a piece of pie and watched as they raised their children—Carr, Michele, and Hope—right here in the heart of our restaurant. You witnessed their grandchildren growing up among us, with many of them pitching in over the years, carrying on the family legacy that made Little Pigs feel like home.

On behalf of the entire Swicegood family, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support—as loyal patrons, as kind neighbors, and as dear friends. Your love and encouragement have meant the world to us through every season.

Though we grieve her loss, we find peace in knowing that Peggy is now joyfully reunited with Joe, watching over us all. Little Pigs will continue to serve with the same heart and hospitality that they instilled in us.
