Tall John's opens October 19 at 152 Montford Ave.

Save the date, y’all. Tall John’s opens for dinner service October 19. 4-10pm, walk-ins only. We can’t wait to break in the space with you.

We’re putting the finishing touches on our menu but we do know a few things for sure: 1) Chef Trevor knows his way around a roasted chicken 🍗 and 2) a freezer cold martini goes pretty nicely with that 🍸

Tall John’s opens this fall, and we are so excited to welcome you through our doors. We’re a neighborhood tavern, serving earnest food and drink to our neighbors, friends, and visitors alike.

We’re building our menu around European and American Classics: think a perfectly roasted chicken on a Thursday night with the family, a freezer-cold martini after a long day, brunch on the patio on a fall Sunday morning, or a pint of beer overlooking Montford Avenue after mowing the yard. Tall John’s is a place for all occasions, and we can’t wait to share it with y’all.

We’re Trevor and Jasper, the Chef/Owner and General Manager. We’re both from Asheville, and both living (and now working!) in Montford. After long careers working in restaurants in Asheville and Portland (OR), we’re excited to bring equal attention to service and the menu at Tall John’s.

Dear Family and Friends,

It is no secret that the last two years have brought many challenges and changes that none of us could have ever imagined. It has also given us time to step back and ask what is important for us and our well-being. When we temporarily closed in August due to staffing issues we had no idea that the journey would lead us to make the difficult decision that it is time to move on and close Chiesa permanently. Being the owner of a restaurant has always been a goal of mine. There are few jobs that give you the privilege of sharing a meal with friends and family, meeting new people, and celebrating significant life events every night of the week. We have done this for five years and have worked hard to deliver a nightly memorable experience that would provide “food for the soul”. To say we are grateful to have been a part of your evenings at Chiesa does not even begin to convey our feelings. There are also no words to describe the gratitude we have for all of your love and support over the past five years – particularly the last two!
While the next chapter is not yet written, we know that it will be informed by the memories we hold from each and every one of you.
Again, we thank you for your friendship, loyalty, and support over the past years. As we look forward to 2022, we raise a glass to each and every one of you!

We definitely would prefer not to be making this post. Unfortunately the staffing issues that you may be reading about are very real. There is nothing more that we would love to do than have our doors open for you, our family and friends - and our amazing staff members. We are currently working around the clock to fill our kitchen with dedicated staff members. We will be in touch in the near future. We look forward to seeing you soon.
