Our busiest day in 37 years. Thank you. Know that we appreciate all of you but the tremendously horrible bigot from late in the evening. How these people continue to want to live with hatred in their hearts is beyond me. Anyway, to the rest of you, thank you endlessly. Auburn fans, you beat us. And you beat our town. You drank our shelves as dry as I can remember. You ate the morsels we had prepped as a “no way we will need to make this much” scenario. You beat us. And you treated us so well. And that’s the worst part! You are welcome back to Athens because of the kindness and character you showed us. Thank you. Somehow today we try to do it again. We will try not to let it show but if you see a little tiredness deep within our souls, be patient. Be forgiving. Be kind or I swear I’ll throw you straight out the window. We will likely be understaffed because our staff is so damn incredible that they often need a moment to breathe (live) after days like yesterday. They are the best in this business. They are so much of the reason we have lasted and made the corner of Clayton and Lumpkin our home for these many years. Treat them well today. And if you’re feeling impatient, there’s always any other place in any other town for you to eat and drink!

Thank you all. Thank you. Except the one man. May he suffer the ravages of time in absolutely disgracefully brutal ways and may he be told frequently by the one he covets most that he is a low wretch worthy of only elephant p**s drenching.

A hurricane is knocking on our door. We will be here for you if you need us. If your powers out. If your plans are ruined. If you need a safe spot to watch the wind whip right round. Town always looks so good in the rain with the trees dancing and playing. And it turns out all of you look quite good with that stormy excitement in your eyes and a drop of rain on your cheek while you think of those storms you’d watch from your parents porch while the pecan trees would pop when the gusts pushed them just to the point of breaking and they’d snap back and the wind would howl at you to scare you but you felt safe because you were young and nothing could really hurt you there and you were caught up in the beauty of it. And the smell of the rain as it cooked off the hot street. And the sound off that rusted tin. Pitter. Patter. Time for a b**r.

Here if you need. Often as we can be.

Today’s 37 years. Right here. For you. Family owned and operated (along with the most glorious generations of coworkers you could ever imagine. Current generation ranks particularly high on the list!) all the way through. Thank you to all who have entered, sat a while, brought a tale, shared a laugh, dropped a tear, made a slow night memorable and a busy night bearable. Thank you Athens. Thank you. Onwards!

No true celebrations happening today, but if you get a wild hair, come have an Oktoberfest b**r (warsteiner or paulaner?) or a diner burger for old times sake. Thank you once more.

37 years. This month (the 29th) will be 37 damn years of Globe. Right here. It’s plenty enough time. We’ve had a great run. All of you reading this might’ve come through our doors. Maybe you’ve only known us from afar. Maybe your parents spent their formative years here. Maybe you spent the moments before your wedding here. Maybe your post graduate party was at our largest table. Maybe the moments after you realized you could no longer afford your dream you fell into our couch in the front corner. Maybe you met the one of your dreams across our dining room. Maybe you sampled something that took you beyond our walls even though you still sat with your elbows propped on our marble bar top. Maybe being here inspired you to do something or build something or create a whole world of your own. Maybe it just made you want to get a job here. Maybe you loved an hour here so you chase that hour every time you return. Maybe you hated five minutes here so you return to banish those minutes to the depths of some scotch burnt hell. There’s a chance you met a vampire here on Halloween. And they seduced you. And partook of your blood. And you’re cursed to wander our hallway (short as it may be…how boring!) in search of that memory forever until someone new rids you of your eternal ailment. Maybe you saw a famous face here. Maybe you did your best to ignore them but it still made you feel a bit more interesting than you felt before (no, you were always that way). Maybe you love the food of the kitchen. The wit, patience and bite of our crew. Maybe you don’t care a tick about a thing. Maybe you escape. Maybe you write. Maybe you dream. Maybe you’ve made friends with us. Maybe we will be friends forever. Maybe, and just maybe, and it will be thanks to you, we will see you for our 38th birthday in 2027. Thank you all. No celebration necessary. Just celebrate yourselves. Get every business in this town to their next anniversary. The only celebration that could mean a thing. Thank ayouuuuuuu.

There is live jazz tonight (and every Thursday you crazy one!) from mary and the hot hotty hots! It starts soonish. Come along, one and all.

Hiring! Our kitchen is growing and we are looking for you! If you want to join our crew, come say hello and bring a résumé. Experience is a big plus, obviously. Interesting taste in music and movies works really well in our books. Agility and endurance, also good. Ability to work closely with others while keeping yourself and those others safe, that won’t hurt your chances at all.

It’s a kitchen in downtown Athens. We work hard and we do our best to keep it light. It can be intense and busy, and it can be slow and quiet. It’s a kitchen. We are incredibly proud of the people we have working with us and are excited about the opportunity to grow our numbers. Sound any good at all? Come on by.
