As many of you have already heard, Pat's Pizza of Augusta will be turning off its oven for the last time at the end of the day July 31, 2020.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all our loyal customers for making the last 30+ years possible. We would not have made it without you! It has been a true pleasure listening to the "I remember when..." the "I have been coming here for __ years," "Why are all the good places closing?" "Now where am I gonna get my pizza?" Some of you even remember when we were in the bowling alley behind Shaw's (I believe it was Jerry Brook Lanes). They make all the long hours and hard work feel very much appreciated! You have all been like family to us. If we didn't see you for a bit, one of us would say "Hey I haven't seen so and so for a while, hope everything is ok." We knew most by name, but for those we did not, we came up with nicknames or we would know by what you ordered. You are the reason we were here this long, when many other places have come and gone. Thank you for all the fond memories I will take with me.
I would also like to send out a HUGE THANK YOU to all the employees both past and present, both front of the house and back of the house. Your hard work, dedication and caring attitudes were the other half of why Pat's was able to stand the test of time. Not only did I consider all of you part of the family, I also got to see families work together: mothers and daughters, grandmother and granddaughter, in-laws, I have even had the chance to work with my own siblings, neices and nephews, and a few friends. I have even seen employees meet, fall in love, get married, and raise families. I always enjoy it when they stop in to grab a bite, and take a few minutes to catch me up on what's new in their lives, or just to reminisce. We shared a lot of fun times and I hope you all have as fond of memories as I do. Hopefully I will continue to run into you for that good ole "catch me up" time. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!!!!!
I would like to pay tribute to Pam Carter. Pam passed away in May 2020. She was a staple of Pat's (and Donnelly's and possibly Lum's) for many years when we were offering breakfast. You had not eaten breakfast at Pat's unless you had Pam serve you. She had the the position of serving down to a science, and truly mastered it with grace. Never did you see Pam rushing around or getting stressed. She just took it all in stride. In all my years here, I have never seen another server of Pam's caliber. May she rest in peace.
As for gift cards, they are redeemable at any Pat's Pizza location.
Donated Gift Certificates are non-transferable to other Pat's and must be used here before we close.
As a reminder, there are many other Pat's Pizzas throughout Maine where you can still grab the same great thin crust pizza. The closest being Pat's Pizza of Brunswick or Pat's Pizza of Auburn.
I also want to say thank you to Bruce Farnsworth (Pat's Orono) and John Kyle (Pat's Yarmouth) for all their guidance throughout the years, and for allowing me to serve your amazing pizza recipe. Thank you to Guy Hamel, who taught me the ropes of running a restaurant. Last but not least, a special thank you to my family for all your support through the years, and not disowning me for missing all the family gatherings!
As much as I am going to miss Pat's and all the customers and employees, it is time for a little less stress and a lot more play time.
Thank you all for the memories! It's been a fun ride!
