Easy Elf on the Shelf + Minecraft Craft
The holidays are upon us once again, and if you’re a parent or grandparent, you know the struggle is real - Elf on the Shelf season is in full swing. 🫠
Picture this: it's almost your bedtime and you find yourself standing in front of the Elf, (ours is named Hawaii) staring at its stupid elf face, its big, dumb elf eyes staring slightly to the right... Your mind may come up as empty as my bank account, desperately seeking some festive Elf-spiration.
As we attempt to keep the magic of Christmas alive for our little ones, the challenge of conjuring creative and memorable Elf scenarios can often just be TOO MUCH! Michelangelo himself would bow out of the challenge of arranging 372 mini marshmallows into an Elf-sized poo trail to the potty, complete with sprinkles and edible glitter. Don’t even get me started on the pressure of seeing all the other parents’ pics on sosh and their elaborate setups that rival Santa’s workshop. Suddenly, I NEED to out-Elf them, so I go out and spend a metric crap-ton (this is an actual number in StacyLand) of money on Christmas decor to turn our living room into a life-sized North Pole diorama that would make actual North Pole-ians jelly. Ain’t nobody got time for that!
“What can our mischievous little friend get into tonight?” you say aloud to no one in particular, hoping for a spark of Christmas genius to illuminate the path to Elf greatness. FEAR NOT, MY WEARY, YET FESTIVE, COMRADES, for you are not alone in the mystical
conundrum of finding some fun and easy Elf inspo!
Here is a super easy, quick, and inexpensive craft project that will most certainly entertain your littles. The best part is no expensive equipment is required!
TIME: 10-30 minutes
SUPPLIES:
• Printer and ink
• Cardstock or matte photo paper (I used cheap cardstock from Dolla Gentral)
• Scissors
• Scotch tape
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Save and print the images out on cardstock. My margins are 0.25" from the edge.
2. Cut out the images with scissors and fold on the seams.
3. Fold cardstock into a cube (with the bottom neck part OPEN) and secure with tape. I taped the edges together on the inside, as well as the outside.
4. If you want different faces, go to minecraftfaces.com to access 60+ different Minecraft heads. Just print,
cut, and tape the face on the front of your cube.
5. EXTRA BUT UNNECESSARY STEP: before cutting out the images, laminate or cover the images with clear contact film or clear packing tape for extra durability.
