Archives Chicagoland Welcome to the Archives! Currently making our home at the Batavia Boardwalk Shops for the 2026 season!

07/18/2026

The wait is over… Archives gift cards have officially arrived. 🎉

A special shoutout to our MVPs who asked for gift cards before we had them. You walked away with a very official, definitely-not-sketchy handmade bookmark signed by us as an IOU. We appreciate your faith in our chaos more than you know.

Well… you can finally cash in.

Whether you’re gifting a reader, a game lover, or someone who just can’t leave without “one more thing,” we’ve got you covered.

Available in-store now. Thanks for growing with us, one wonderfully improvised chapter at a time. 💜📚

With the heat and poor air quality lately, we have decided to reschedule the Nostalgic Book Fair as most of it teaches place outdoors on the Boardwalk. While we can't wait to party with you, your health and safety is of the utmost importance.

Check our newest post for the new date and time!

In the meantime, our store will still be open, with the doors closed on bad air quality days to protect our books and our lungs. Stop by and see us this weekend!

If you spent your allowance on Magic Tree House…

You probably never stopped chasing adventure.

You just traded treehouses for pirate ships, dragons, impossible skies, and legends that feel a little more grown up.

For Magic Tree House readers, we’re recommending:
⚔️ The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty
🌌 The Deep Sky by Yume Kitasei

They’re packed with exploration, unforgettable characters, and the same feeling that the next page might take you somewhere you’ve never been before.

Find these and more nostalgic “if you loved…try this!” recommendations at the Archives Book Fair on July 24.

If Goosebumps was your entire personality for a while (or still is…we’re not judging), this one’s for you.

We’re matching the books that raised us with the books we think you’ll love now. Think creepy forests, unsettling folklore, haunted houses, impossible creatures, and the kind of stories that leave you checking over your shoulder before bed.

For Goosebumps readers, we’re recommending:
📖 Never Whistle at Night edited by Shane Hawk & Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.
📖 What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher

These—and plenty more nostalgic pairings—will be available at the Archives Book Fair on July 24, with 10% off all preorders now through our website.

Because your reading taste grew up…it just never stopped loving things that go bump in the night.

New F-bombs just dropped. 💣

Tiny. Crochet. Slightly unhinged.

Handmade by the incredibly talented 2SassySkeins these little F-bombs are ready to cause absolutely zero damage…unless you’re offended by adorable profanity.

The best part? 100% of the proceeds go directly to the artist, so every F-bomb you adopt supports a local maker.

Stop by Archives before they disappear. We have a feeling these won’t stick around for long.

Apparently we’ve been promoted to the Official (Unofficial) Boardwalk Lost & Found.

If you’ve been wandering around thinking, “Wait…where did my Croc charm go?” or “I’m pretty sure I had one more little doodad on my shoe…” there’s a decent chance it’s hanging out with us.

We’ve collected quite the assortment of orphaned Jibbitz, plus a few other mystery items that have found their way to the shop.

Take a look through the photos and let us know if one belongs to you—or stop by Archives to reclaim your tiny traveler.

And if you’ve lost something else while visiting the Boardwalk, it never hurts to ask. Somehow, things have a habit of ending up here.
