Thank you to all of our law enforcers who serve our community and protect our liberty. We know the career path can be hard but it is also rewarding. You see the worst and best of humanity and just keep going and going.

You give up so much in your life because you want to be there for us when we need you. You could leave your home one day and never return and you still do it.

You try to stay sharp on all of the laws, world problems and community needs all while being a mediator, Counselor, Example, Mother, Father, Fiance, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Son, Daughter, Husband or Wife and you still do it.

You do all of this to hopefully earn a small pension, with no health insurance when you have given your body, mind and health for nearly 30 years in hopes that you can enjoy the last years of your life..and you still do it.

You don't do it for fame, glory or plaques. You do it for children, your neighbors and people you don't even know. You do it for those who need you and to make the place you live in, just a little better.

You give up birthday parties, holidays, your family engagements, child milestones, dates, vacations and your peace of mind...all for us and you still do it.

That is a sacrifice or a willingness to sacrifice the best years of your life to save, help or talk to someone during the worst minute, hour or day of their life.

There isn't enough money or praise we can give you for all you do. So we simply want you to know, that we will honor you any way we can, pray for your safety and always have your back...

A special breakfast invitation to all grieving Mothers in our communites of Beaufort and Jasper who have lost their child to violence at any age.

This special day is hosted by Kema Bryant and Jake Higgins and sponsored by Higgins Family Brands.

Mrs. Bryant lost her amazing teenage son DJ Fields Jr. to violence in Bluffton in 2021. She has since then dedicated her life to supporting Mothers who are left picking up the pieces of their lives after losing their child to violence.

We invite you to come enjoy a free meal this day but more importantly meet with other Mothers who know exactly how you hurt and what you need.

We will be continuing this effort offering these meetings often so we can all come together to help one another.

Let us honor you this day, have a meal with you, listen to you, hug you and support you as you continue to navigate through life after your child's life was taken from you.

You are wonderful, amazing, brave and powerful and Mothers and families who have lost and all of us need you....

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day!!!

Thank you to each person who serves the public as a law enforcement officer. You chose a lifestyle not a job. While many times it may feel thankless or difficult or isolated...it is in fact necessary.

You chose to give up birthday parties, holidays with family, events with friends, privacy, your mind, your body, your life and even death. All for someone you may not even know. You are willing to give your life for others and also willing to live your life for others.

You took time to train and learn and put in hour after hour hoping you are making a difference that you cannot see or quantify most times. You show up to calls where you become a counselor, friend or enforcer and that your action or inaction can send ripples of change through the lives of people you serve and live in the community with.

You know the risks, the rewards, the sacrifice and truth. You sit in the back of a restaurant so you can face a door, pump gas while looking all around, try not to wreck your crusier when you drive hundreds of miles a week and are watched by everyone while you try to discreetly cram a sandwich down your throat between calls while next to a dumpster behind a store.

You never drive your own car the same way again, you check everyone's seatbelt, search rental cars before you rent them, don't trust stories and socials because your mind is tilted now and you try to see the good but have to wade through the bad every single day.

You watch the news and see what we are viewed as and try your hardest to not be what people dislike but genuinely want the world or your little piece to be its very best all the time. You see death and pain and because you are human, you hurt for people but hold it all in so noone sees you as human.

Your dream of wearing a perfect uniform or driving fast or locking up the bad guy or girl has turned into you being sued, jailed or slandered if you make one bad decision in a fraction of a second. You respond to the worst of scenes and see things that you will never forget and never share.

BUT

You wake up, work out to be your best, try to love your family, parents and friends, spend time with them when you just need sleep and you keep going out every single day and work and work and work.

You provide and you listen and challenge and hope that you can make someone's day better by doing what is right.

You are heroic because you defend liberty by living as a hero and are an olympian of good choices and setting the example.

You are not a good person because you are a good law enforcement officer...you are a good law enforcement officer because you are a good person.

We see you...these communities of people see you. Beaufort County, Jasper County and the Lowcountry as a whole sees you.

We have a wonderful slice of heaven here with people that you choose to protect and serve and know we aren't perfect in policing, but we are perfecting.

Well we love and appreciate you more than you know or we know. Thank you for being willing to live your life for us and choosing each day to be your best.
