All time lengths als

Happy 4th of July week! We are open normal hours Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and closed Friday Saturday. Too many people gone and hard to run efficiently when you are shorthanded.

Another permanently empty chair at the diner; went to the funeral home to say farewell to Jim Flynn today. I told his son that I am not sure who is going to tell me who is related to who and connect every person who walks through the door to someone currently there! One of a kind true gentleman, he will be missed.

Couldn't ask for better weather! Hope you all enjoyed today as a lot of you were off of work . I know because we fed most of you. Very busy day and my staff kept up beautifully. I got to see a lot of fathers being celebrated and I wish I could hug mine again. If your Dad is still around, don't miss the opportunity to let him know how important he is.

I don't typically post on Saturdays but today was very unusual. People calling in and miscommunication left only 2 of us working when we unlocked the door. Bella was hustling and I was working as fast as possible but getting close to tears as the
diner quickly filled up and tickets were stacking up. Then a great customer who has helped us in so many ways came in and I yelled from the kitchen for help and without hesitation he jumped right in and delivered orders and even wrote out a few tickets! About 7:20 a great family came in for a relaxed breakfast; their daughter (who has worked for me) came back to say hello. She was alarmed that I was alone on grill and almost in tears. Immediately she jumped in, along with 3 brothers and helped me get tickets out! They were awesome and helped out even after my staff started arriving around 8. A great big thanks to wonderful customers and friends who carry us along sometimes🥰.
Heads up that we will be closed the first of the week and will reopen Thursday morning at 7a.m.! Spread the word and pick up some pop tarts and bacon so you can still eat Tuesday and Wednesday. We appreciate you all and look forward to being a little rested when we return on Thursday.

You know how it is when you take even one day off; playing catch up is hard! Good thing my team today was off the charts accomplishing many tasks😁. Both of our food truck deliveries on top of normal prep and moving some things around. Keep your eyes peeled for changes.
I posted yesterday about a loss but gave no names; I know it is well known now that Vic Macimenko passed away suddenly yesterday and we will miss him so much here at Apron Strings . When you have regular customers in any type of business you identify people by their "usual " order; Vic's was 2 scrambled eggs with cheese, hash brown casserole, sausage patty, 1 rye toast. Pretty much never strayed from that. May have to put that on the specials as The Max plate. Make sure your people know you love them, you might not get a chance tomorrow.

A truly relaxing day; we decided to actually take a holiday and not do prep and be closed tomorrow but reopen Wednesday at 7am. A good day until minutes ago when one of my girls let me know one of our good customers passed away unexpectedly. Younger than many of our regulars and looked to be in good health; passed quickly at home. None of us know ,but a reminder to never take a chance to make a memory for granted .
Hope most of you have had a relaxing day full of food and fun. I will post specials tomorrow but needed to pass along that we are closed tomorrow!

Every day this week has been a Saturday and we are grateful for the business and we are tired! Honor day celebrations, people off of work for the holiday, our regular groups that meet every week on specific days, and it all adds up to WOW!
We had Jamie back today for a few hours and helped us get caught up and stocked better on some goodies. Sadly they are gone so in the morning my bakers will need to jump right in.

Saturday was crazy as usual and we did pretty well but somehow there seems like 1 table fallbeen has partway through the crack. Waited way too long , didn't get everything the way they wanted, didn't get checked on like they should have. They were understandably unhappy. But you know when they came to pay and express the issues, they weren't rude; we talked and I apologized, they had been at the diner before and were satisfied so they were sad we dropped the ball. The main thing: she expressed all of her issues and remained kind, I wish everyone could keep that in mind, whether it is over literal burnt Toast or several problems like these customers experienced. I think they will try us again because I felt like they left on good terms. Whatever the setting, your words leave a mark.
Heat and humidity are here! We are backing off of soups and bit and going for summer fare.
