Our wool workshop is finally here! All day tomorrow, and we couldn’t be more excited. There is one last-minute opening if you’re looking for something fun, crafty, and unbelievably wholesome to do this weekend. We’ll start our day with coffee and cake, visit a sheep farm nearby, enjoy a lovely lunch together prepared by yours truly, and spin and knit all afternoon. Made a cute little special commission with Nicola Lamb’s stunning olive oil, citrus, and mascarpone cake with rosemary Swiss meringue buttercream from SIFT, which happens to convert lovely to gluten-free with its nutty almond base, soft full crumb and citrus soak. Happy Sunday, all 🍊🌞

Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day celebrations for Secondi Supper Club in February. ❤️🧧 We imagined non-monetary forms of wealth and prosperity, made dumplings together, and then enjoyed the fruits of our collective labor by feasting at the shared table. An endcap in gratitude for my family and ancestors: the last photo, which I found for the altar, shows my grandmother in my childhood home, always most at home in the kitchen. She was an exquisite chef and restauranteur. I never had the chance to learn from her, which is perhaps my one big regret in life, but I like to think that this part of who she was lives on through me, which I get to pass on to our daughter.

Last harvest of scarlet runner and borlotti beans for breakfast this morning, smoky beans and roasted cherry tomatoes with feta and thick slabs of buttered bread. The garden is in its final days, the foliage is at peak beauty. It’s a windy gray day with brilliant October light, and all we want to do is linger over slow and cozy breakfast.

Join us for our fall event: a cheese-filled pop-up dinner on Sept 10! As part of Vermont Cheese Week in September, we’re doing a fundraising dinner to sustain education and support systems for local cheesemakers. When Vermont Cheese Council reaches out to us about being part of Cheese Week for the first time, we immediately said yes! We’ve loved exploring the amazing cheeses (cheddar and beyond) that small local producers are crafting in and around Southern Vermont. We also knew immediately that 1) we wanted to do a family-style dinner to bring together community and have the chance to cook with these delicious cheeses, and 2) we wanted to do it as a contribution to our community and strengthening the local food system here, so we would do it for free.

Tickets are a baseline of $45, with pay what you can pricing above that. Everything goes to the direct purchase of goods from our local producers and farms or to the efforts of nonprofit Vermont Cheese Council to build a resilient and sustainable food system for Vermont’s cheesemakers.
