Today's my real birthday. 14 years sober.
Every year I share this milestone. Not to brag or seek congratulations, but because I hope someone who's struggling might see it and realize there's another way to live.
14 years ago, I couldn't have imagined the life I have today. I have a wonderful family, a career I genuinely love, and most importantly, I'm happy with who I am.
Sobriety gave me my confidence back, my happiness back, and my ambition back. It gave me the ability to be comfortable in my own head and at peace with myself.
My wife and I always say, "No one ever regretted getting sober." And I believe that more than ever.
The grass really is greener on this side.
If you're struggling with alcohol or drugs, I want you to know that things can change. Life on the other side can be so much more than you imagine. It's not always easy, but it's absolutely worth it.
Please feel free to reach out. I manage this account personally, so you can DM me directly. I'm happy to listen, share my experience, offer advice, or help point you in the right direction.
14 years later, I'm grateful every day that I made that decision.
