After 33 years in Berkeley, there are still plenty of Picante stories people don’t know.

So we’re starting a new series with Jim Maser, the owner of Picante, to share more of what’s behind the food, the space, the history, and the decisions that have shaped Picante over the years.

Some stories will be about regional Mexican cooking, and some will be about travel, ingredients, the dining room, the menu, or what has changed since reopening.
