Before the pitchforks out… hear me out.

Food TV made chefs celebrities, but somewhere along the way it also sold the idea that cooking is all glory, creativity, and fame.

The reality?
It’s burns. Twelve-hour shifts. Missed holidays. Broken equipment. FIFO. Cleaning the flat top for the thousandth time. Teaching the same knife cut every week. And somehow still finding a way to put out a great plate.

Did Food Network inspire a generation of cooks?
Absolutely.

Did it also create unrealistic expectations about what this profession actually is?
I think so.

Convince me I’m wrong.
