Catch this EXTREMELY talented duo this Saturday Nighy !!!
Had a guy call the venue we were playing last night in Missoula and ask the venue owner in a very aggressive tone “WHO THE HELL ARE THE FLINNS” (he was on speaker phone and we overheard it). It was a bizarre call and maybe even a prank call but I asked for his number and sent him this text. He never showed or responded.
It was a weird deal but he was actually saying what a lot of people think. We’ve focused our attention on ticketed shows this summer because we want attentive audiences who are interested in our songs & stories. As a result of that, we’ve had some low attendances.
Here’s the good news. For those adventurous souls that have decided to buy a ticket despite having never heard of us, they end up loving our music and we end up leaving so grateful and refreshed by their presence. Often times we form lifelong friends from these small shows. Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
I remember a time when folks took pride in discovering a new artist. It seems to me now that people equate notoriety with quality. If we had a nickel for every time someone’s said “I hope you make it” then we’d probably have enough nickels to endlessly throw at marketing and fast track the notoriety aspect of our career.
So what’s the point of this whole rant? We love what we do. We love the live shows. We are making it. We want you to reconsider taking a chance on artists you’ve never heard of. Spending a few bucks on catching an unknown artist at a small venue will mean infinitely more to that artist than the one that sells another 1,000 tickets on the stadium tour.
We are super grateful for everyone that’s taken a chance on us. We will never forget you.
