⚽️ We’re opening specially for the World Cup Semifinals! ⚽️

The Cheshire Arms will be open on Tuesday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 15 for both matches, kicking off at 3pm. On Tuesday, it’s France v Spain, and on Wednesday, England v Argentina. We’ll have a few appetizers available, but the kitchen will not be fully open — the bar, however, will be stocked and ready for whatever libations you may want… or desperately need, depending on how the match is going. 😉

If ever there were two afternoons to play hooky from work, THIS IS IT! We’re excited for every match, though you can probably guess who we’ll be cheering for. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Come join us for the tension, the triumphs, and all the excitement of the beautiful game! 🍻

Well, it’s a proper English summer day today — rain on and off, but absolutely nothing is going to dampen our spirits for England vs. Norway at 5 PM tonight! ⚽️🏴 We’re incredibly proud of the boys and have everything crossed for a win. 🤞

We know kickoff lands right at proper dinner time, so we’re going to do our very best to make sure Chef Simon gets to watch as much of the match as possible. That means we’ll be offering a shortened menu during the second half, so please plan accordingly!

The excitement won’t end at 7, either — we’re keeping the bar open late for Argentina vs. Switzerland at 9 PM. We’re starting the day with Wimbledon on the telly and a fantastic Fisherman’s Pie in the kitchen; the pie may change later this evening, but to what, even we’re not entirely sure yet. A surprise for everyone! 😉

The bar is stocked, the games are ready, the food is cooking, and the hospitality is flowing. Come join us for a brilliant day of sport, proper pub fare, and good company — we’ll be here! 🍻

Happy Friday — we’re ready for the weekend! ⚽️🍻

We’re absolutely buzzing for England vs. Norway tomorrow at 5 PM and hoping for a proper match-day atmosphere here at The Cheshire Arms. We’re still gutted that the USA is out — we had dreams of our two teams meeting in the final, but alas… football had other ideas.

In the meantime, today’s kitchen special is our phenomenal Shepherd’s Pie, the bar is fully stocked, and if you leave now, you can still catch the end of Spain vs. Belgium. Then join us tomorrow to cheer on our England boys—and stick around after the match because the 9 PM quarterfinal will decide who England faces in the semifinals (provided they get the job done, of course! 😉).

So really… what are you waiting for? Come tarry awhile!

WHAT. A. MATCH. ⚽🇬🇧

We had a right ol’ beano last night, and England are through to the quarter-finals! Way to go, England! We’re still recovering, frankly, but there’s no rest for the footy faithful…

We’re kicking things off early today with the bar opening at 3pm for Portugal vs Spain, so feel free to develop a mysterious little stomach ache, excuse yourself from whatever nonsense is keeping you away, and get stuck in. 😉

Then tonight, we steady ourselves for USA vs Belgium at 8pm, and it’s shaping up to be another cracking night of World Cup action. Go USA! 🇺🇸⚽

We’ll have the always fantastic Shepherd’s Pie on tonight, plenty of board games to keep you entertained until kick-off, and lots and lots of delicious concoctions from the bar to keep the nerves at bay.

So grab your mates, bring your best cheering voice, and come join us in rooting for America’s team!

Come tarry awhile! 🍻⚽🥧

We hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday weekend! 🇬🇧⚽🍻

We are officially excited, nervous, and yes… we’ve got the collywobbles ahead of England vs Mexico at 8pm tonight. It’s going to be a proper big day of sport here at The Cheshire Arms!

We’ll have Wimbledon on the tele this afternoon, followed by Norway vs Brazil at 4pm, and then the BIG one: England vs Mexico at 8pm. What a day!

The kitchen is serving up the ever-popular Shepherd’s Pie, along with Chef Simon’s delectable Watermelon Gazpacho—cool, refreshing, and just the thing for this hot weekend.

The drinks are cold, the pub is cold—temperature-wise, of course; we’re as warm and welcoming as ever. 😉

And don’t forget: the kitchen will be closing a wee bit early tonight at 7:45 sharp so Chef Simon can catch the match. Priorities, folks.

Come in, grab your seat, and tarry awhile. And if you want prime seats for today’s matches, give us a call or make a reservation!

Happy 4th of July and Happy 250th Birthday, USA! 🇺🇸✨

We hope your day is filled with fun, laughter, family, friends, and maybe just enough fireworks to make the dogs mildly suspicious.

We know it’s hot out there, so if you need a little place of respite, we are here for you—with the AC on, the bar stocked and cold, and the hospitality overflowing.

Today feels like the perfect day to celebrate what makes America so special: the incredible mix of cultures, stories, traditions, foods, music, art, and people that make up this big, beautiful, slightly bonkers country. And what better way to do that than with the World Cup on the tele, cheering on teams from around the world as fans come together for the love of the beautiful game? ⚽

Today’s matches:
Canada vs Morocco at 1pm
France vs Paraguay at 5pm

And yes, we’ve got some proper deliciousness coming out of the kitchen. Chef Simon’s Watermelon Gazpacho is on the menu—cool, refreshing, and exactly what this scorcher calls for. We’re featuring Fisherman’s Pie for lunch, followed by the fantastic Rabbit Pie for dinner.

And don’t forget—England takes on Mexico tomorrow at 8pm! Come early and get your food orders in, as we’ll be closing the kitchen at 7:45 sharp so Chef can enjoy the match too. Priorities, folks. 😉

So come cool off, raise a glass, cheer on the world, and celebrate the day with us at the pub.

Come tarry awhile! 🍻🥧⚽

It is obviously too hot to do anything outdoors, so why not come relax at the pub instead? ☀️🍻

We’ve got the World Cup on the tele, icy cold drinks behind the bar, and delicious food coming straight out of the kitchen. Sounds like another cracking evening to be had at your local, if you ask us. 😉

And Chef Simon has made an absolute doozy for this scorcher: Watermelon Gazpacho, served chilled, refreshing, and packed with all the lovely hydration your overheated little body is currently begging for.

Plus, we’ve got all the other pub goodies you’ve been thinking about—because let’s be honest, soup is lovely, but sometimes you also need a pie, a pint, or something fried.

So come escape the heat, settle in, and tarry awhile.

We’ll be here! ⚽🥣🍺

We think this is a fantastic idea 💐🥀🌻

We think this is a fantastic idea 💐🥀🌻

One English town decided to stop treating every patch of grass like a golf course.

Instead of mowing miles of roadside grass over and over again, Rotherham replaced long stretches with wildflowers.

The result became known as a “River of Flowers.”

Eight miles of colour.

Road verges that were once plain grass turned into habitat for bees, butterflies, birds, and other pollinators.

And the best part?

It did not just help nature.

It also saved money.

By cutting back on constant mowing, the town reduced maintenance costs by thousands of pounds.

Less mowing.

More flowers.

More wildlife.

Lower costs.

It is one of those ideas that seems almost too simple.

For years, councils have spent money cutting grass short just so roadsides look tidy.

But when Rotherham let nature do more of the work, the verges became more beautiful, more useful, and better for the environment.

Sometimes helping wildlife does not mean building something new.

Sometimes it means stopping the machines, letting the flowers grow, and giving nature a little space to come back.
