Eight years ago, our family embarked on this crazy adventure called Hot Shots Coffeehouse. As a family, we worked to create a truly unique cafe in what was previously, a vacant space. We’ve had a lifetime of memories and experiences in this place, but it’s now time to hang up our aprons and start looking towards retirement!
Hot Shots will close Monday September 30, and re-open under the ownership of Chef Bev Eskew as “Spade & Spatula: a California Gastropub”. Her unique kitchen will focus on thoughtfully prepared scratch-to-table plates, inspired by historically local ingredients and globally influenced fare. Vegan and vegetarian options will make a lot of our current customers very happy! California craft beers and craft cocktails will make this a very special place for sharing time with friends, family, colleagues, and business associates.
We are so excited for Chef Bev (and for all her future customers!) and we have total confidence in her ability to take on the next adventure! Bev: thank you for all your hard work, and thank you for being willing to take on the challenge of a new restaurant!
We are very grateful to many people who have contributed to our success these last eight years; Ernie and Luanne Pitts and Gia Brown: we couldn’t have done it without you! Our dads: Dean and JoCase… thank you for your support and help during this interesting chapter in our lives. And we have so much gratitude to our own children Casey, Eric, and Patchy… you guys did SO much for us, we can never repay you. You waited so patiently to finally get a paycheck and you had to put up with always being the first to show up when others called off. You all went WAY above and beyond, THANK YOU! Jordan Dietz for all your electrical, sound, lighting, and other skills! We’re so proud to now have you as a son-in-law! And Macy Wilhite (Whitesell), thank you for working so hard for us and bringing a great energy to the business, we’re so happy our son found you, and so blessed to have you now in our family!
So many great STAFF have come and gone to make Hot Shots what it is today. Bryan O’Neill you are a hero to us for getting us through a challenging year! And a very special note of appreciation goes to Mr. Michael Fuller, he’s been with us so long providing excellent service to all. Michael, we wish you the best in your future!
We’d also like to thank US Foods’ Keith Biorkman, Danny Morey, and Jim Houston and Sysco’s Jane Haneline for giving us awesome sales reps and service. Thank you to our landlord Pacific Capital for working with us to make sure this unique space remains occupied, and for being great to work with these last eight years.
And a SPECIAL THANKS to YOU…. OUR CUSTOMERS! Many of you we know by name, and many we only know by the drink you order! We are so lucky to live in a community with such a dedicated fan base.
This being our last week, we are making it CUSTOMER APPRECIATION WEEK. Please leave a note inside or a comment on social media with your favorite Hot Shots memory and we will give you a FREE cup of our delicious coffee!
With much love for our mountain community,
The Whitesell Family:
