Plant Milk Boston is a group that advocates for more plant-based milks in restaurants and stores in the Boston area.
Goals
Encourage restaurants that serve coffee to also offer plant milks
Promote plant milks in stores, homes, and workplaces
Use plant milks in recipes instead of animal-derived milks
Why plant milks?
Plant-based milks can be a healthy alternative to cow's milk. They can also be better for the environment. Some common plant milks include:
Almond milk, Cashew milk, Oat milk, Peanut milk, Rice milk, and Soy milk.
Plant milk tips
Soy milk is a healthy option that contains similar amounts of protein to cow's milk.
Many brands add calcium and vitamin D to soy milk, but you should shake it well before drinking.
Plant-based milks can be more expensive to produce than dairy milks.
Some plant-based milks contain thickening agents, emulsifiers, and gums, which can cause digestive issues.
