Happy New Year, everyone. We hope everyone was able to celebrate happily and healthily. Do you have any New Year's resolutions? Ours is to be more consistent with our (supposed to be) monthly tea book reviews.
The first book reviewed this year is "Yixing Pottery - The World of Chinese Tea Culture" by Chunfang Pan and it briefly explores the history behind this amazing teaware craftsmanship.

Reviews of books about tea, tea culture, tea history, tea's impact on socioeconomics, and any all other things tea-related

Sorry for missing last month's scheduled review. Here's our review for August on "The Ultimate Guide to Chinese Tea" by Bret Hinsch. For those of you who just want a TL;DR version: Don't buy it. It's terrible.

Looking for another good way to cool down this summer? Then maybe you'd be interested in trying a layered strawberry matcha latte. It's a bit more involved than the previous recipes posted, but it's worth the effort.

-Whisk 1½ teaspoons matcha powder with 3½ tablespoons of water heated to about 75°C / 170°F.
-Puree 2-3 strawberries with 1⁄4 cup water and pour into glass.
-Fill glass with as much ice as possible
-Pour 1⁄4 cup whole milk into glass
-Pour matcha tea into glass
***When pouring milk and tea into glass, pour slowly and try to hit the ice as much as possible to help create the separated/layered look (Clearly, we still have some more work to do on that front.)

*Optional: boil some tapioca pearls and place them in the glass before anything else to convert this into a boba/bubble tea.

Another scorcher out there. Looking for a delicious beverage to cool down with but want something a bit fruitier than regular boba tea? Then try this blueberry-infused green boba/bubble tea (this recipe provides about 3 pints of boba tea):

⅓ cup tapioca pearls boiled until black and chewy

3 cups green tea (strong cold-brewed) [Recommended tea: Dragonwell Green Tea]
½ cup blueberries (frozen preferred)
1⁄4 cup whole milk
3-6 ice cubes

Mix the tea, milk, blueberries, and ice together in a blender. Place the tapioca pearls in the glass and pour the tea mix in.

*Optional
Add used tea leaves to the blender mix(provides proteins, antioxidants, and vitamins that aren't water soluble)
Sugar to Preferred Taste
Top with Additional Blueberries

¼ cup whole milk
3-6 ice cubes (depending how cold you want it)
Mix the milk, tea, and ice together in a blender or mix the tea and milk together and pour over ice. Place the tapioca pearls in the glass before adding the rest of the mixture.

*Optional*
Add sugar to preferred taste
