LAST CALL- for the MaryLynn Gillaspie show tonight with her Hot Band at my new venue the Full Cycle Café & Bar. This is a special show to me. MaryLynn came out of her long retirement 13 years ago after her legendary run with Rare Silk at my urging, and played at Sole frequently. Her shows were among the stellar shows at Sole and she was a big part of our Sole musical family. She is bringing the crème de la crème Jazz band for her last show of the year and it would be great to see you! It is a ticketed event and the ticket link is below.

Ms Gillaspie is one of my all time favorite singers, period. She delivers a vocal performance with impeccable, true and precise jazz phrasing that is classic in its warmth but also modern in its sensibility which leaves her free to go where the music takes her, on the spot. This Saturday night 10/26 the Full Cycle | Jazz Supper Club features MaryLynn Gillaspie, one of the great jazz singers in Colorado with much national acclaim. She was a founder of the internationally renowned and Grammy nominated Rare Silk and has shared the stage with many of the great jazz legends like Benny Goodman, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, McCoy Tyner, Spiro Gyro, Mel Torme, Branford Marsalis and many more. Rare Silk’s album was Grammy Nominated.

Tonight October 19, at the Full Cycle Café | Jazz Supper Club, is the debut of the Enion Ensemble. I’m really looking forward to this show. Such great and diverse musicians are coming together to create a night of musical alchemy. I wouldn’t miss it for all of the wine in Bordeaux!

Per Enion, we will “creatively interpret Americana, 1960s pop songs, modern indie-folk and original compositions and songs that seamlessly merge both jazz and Folk idioms. Enjoy familiar tunes and melodies you swear you’ve heard somewhere before, beautifully and deftly twisted in the hands of some of Colorado’s finest musicians in any genre. This Friday, the Full Cycle Café | Jazz Supper Club presents the Dru Heller Quartet. Mr. Heller was a frequent and very popular performer at the Sole Jazz Supper Club for well over a decade and is one of my all time favorite drummers of because of his impeccable taste and primal force of will that takes jazz drumming to a whole new dynamic level. This Friday night will be no exception as his band always has dramatic, power, beauty and soulfulness. Per Dru in his understated manner, “we will be playing original music from my most recent album. Should be a really fun night of music.”

Dru Heller has recorded and toured with artists such as Greg Osby, Don Byron, Ron Miles, Art Lande, Wycliffe Gordon, John Ellis, Kate McGarry, Dave Pietro, Byron Stripling, and many others. Dru also leads his own group and maintains a busy schedule as a freelance musician of the Denver jazz scene and is an affiliate faculty member of Metropolitan State University of Denver. His career spans over two decades. Performing with Dru are some of the finest jazz musicians both in terms of their solo work, but also their ensemble playing.

Deborah Stafford & The Night Stalkers is an 8 piece power packed Blues and R&B band that has been taking the Colorado Blues scene by storm. There is NOTHING that turns it on like a 4 piece horn section behind a great blues singer like Ms Deborah Stafford!. It is rare and totally awesome. They headlined Niwot's Rock & Rails this year and played to packed crowds at Louisville Street Faire. This band features an award-winning horn section, hot guitar by Jeff Bowen (formerly of My Blue Sky), soulful keyboards by Tone Show, and the smoldering vocals of Deborah Stafford. Amazing originals and funky covers from the likes of Al Green and Etta James make this band a step above the rest. Come and dance with us!

Flavors, Sensations - a Journey of the Food and Wines of Spain
An indulging feast by Chef Antonio Rullo created for this special occasion to experience and revel in the authentic flavors and delicacies from the different regions of Spain, paired with delicious traditional regional wines by our guest somelier Ryan Gaterman of Giuliana Wine Company.

About Chef Antonio-
Chef Antonio Rullo grew up in the heart and passion of the authentic culinary traditions of Spain. His family was a part of the farming community in Toledo Spain. The country’s seasonal harvest was a major part of Antonio’s childhood. “I would participate in the harvests; there were the harvests for grapes, olives, and for saffron. I grew up cooking with my mom and grandma in the kitchen. They were both excellent cooks but they cooked traditional Spanish food.” Chef Antonio received a degree in hotel and restaurant administration in Madrid, was the Chef de Cuisine and manager at Da Gabi’s Cucina for 15 years and tour director of the Gabi Food Adverntures.

For 15 years, I have been a big fan of Tom Weiser for his high octane but always tasteful swing, his renderings of the great ballads, standards and American Songbook from the Golden Age of Jazz, and his joy and humor. If you like to swing dance, this is your show!
