Currently at Bridgeville and Greenwood we are offering vanilla along with a dole whip and at Dewey and Georgetown we are offering two options of dole whip. Fenwick Island also has dole whip available as hand dipped.

Today, we celebrate the fathers behind Vanderwende Farm.

The early mornings, the long days, the sacrifices, and the unwavering commitment to family and farming are what keep this place going year after year.

Father’s Day also gives us a chance to remember a very special man who is no longer with us. While our father & grandfather is in heaven, his presence is still felt every day on this farm. His hard work, wisdom, and love for family helped shape who we are and what Vanderwende’s has become.

We are grateful for the dads who continue his legacy and for the generations that came before them.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who make a difference every day. ❤️

There was a time when dairy farms were a common sight across Delaware's countryside.

Today, just 12 working dairy farms remain.
We are honored to be one of them.

For our family, dairy farming is more than a livelihood. It is a commitment to the animals we care for, the land we steward, and the generations who came before us. It is early mornings, long days, and a passion for preserving a way of life that has shaped our family for generations.

As the number of family dairy farms continues to decline, we are grateful for the opportunity to continue farming and share a piece of that experience with our community.

We do not take that responsibility lightly.
To everyone who visits our farm, enjoys our ice cream, and supports local agriculture, thank you. Because of you, this tradition continues, and a piece of Delaware's agricultural heritage lives on for another generation.

Kids taking care of dairy cows is something you don’t see nearly as often anymore. In a world of screens and busy schedules, it’s refreshing to see young people learning responsibility, compassion, and hard work through farm life. These traditions may be becoming rare, but they’re still worth preserving. 🐄🌾❤️
