A year of both tears and blessings, the simplicity of preparing artichokes for guests on their way fills my heart with joy.. drawn lemon butter and a glass French white wine. My journey to fall in love with cooking again starts with a series of dinner parties laced with my favorites ….tomorrow we will start with chilled oysters and then yes, the precious artichoke. In this special episode of French Magnolia Cooks, we head into the mountains of Southwest Virginia to visit Ty & Shannon Walker—a couple preserving legacy and land at their 90-year-old trout hatchery.

Our field & stream guy, John Gurley, teaches the art of fly fishing, and I get to cook rainbow trout outdoors with soul, heart, and a little French flair. Thomas brings the perfect pairings and we end the day gathered around a table on the farm.
