🧑🏽🍳Chef Tip: Garlic + Honey for Winter 🧄🍯
Now is the time to start your garlic honey! If you begin fermenting it in the fall, it has several weeks to develop that delicious sweet, mellow, garlicky flavor just in time for winter.
🧄 Garlic contains allicin and other sulfur compounds with antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.
🍯 Honey contains antioxidants and has natural antimicrobial properties.
✨ Together, they make a flavorful combination that may support your body’s natural defenses and add beneficial plant compounds to your diet.
My chef tip: Use fresh garlic and raw honey, keep the garlic submerged, and let it ferment for several weeks. Turn the jar gently every day or two. The garlic becomes softer and the honey takes on an incredible depth of flavor.
Try it in dressings, marinades, sauces, roasted vegetables, or simply as a small flavorful addition to your meals.
