When asked what y’all wanted to know about food, how to add variety was a reoccurring theme. The reasons were as diverse as the flavors you wish to indulge in and I’m here to encourage/support it all. 👏🏻
You wanted to...
* eat out less/ be healthier (just so we are clear, I dropped out of nutrition classes because short ribs are tasty & I accepted my thick thighs ages ago. You should as well 😍)
* break out of a food/ flavor rut
* conquer fear - where do you start when food hasn’t been your focus or the focus of those who influenced you? (Read: your adult supervision)
* not be wasteful - money is money and being wasteful is not an option.
So, without further ado, here are some ideas to spice things up.
Free, discount or clearance options:
*zap pak! - free from Little Caesars - pizza, fries, burgers
*wicked tasty taco
*Japanese teriyaki chicken (haven’t tried but cheap enough that if I hate it, I don’t regret it & dinner in 20 mins is always a plus)
*orange chicken - .75 out the door
*buffalo seasoning
*Michigan blueberry lemon streusel bread- French toast & you deserve this
Gifts:
*frozen pizza & sandwich seasonings (from Penzeys Spices) are what love should taste like and makes my cheap Tony’s cheese pizza & leftover sammies sing 🎶)
*blue cheese seasoning from Florida
*jerk seasoning from Jamaica
Full price but most likely on sale:
*Badia spices - located in the Hispanic grocery section - end cap 😉- and prices less than a dollar. Cinnamon sticks and anise are solely for my Asian inspired broths and a perfect example of not wanting to spend too much.
Side knowledge note... anise is the flavor of black licorice. While you might be quick to write it off, it’s commonly used in Italian sausage.
*truffle & aged cheddar mac & cheese sauce - about $2.50, when paired with a small pasta (around a buck anywhere - no coupon required) you have something spectacular. Add cooked chicken, chorizo, bacon, lobster, or hell, broccoli 🥦, to add bulk and more interest. Add lobster if you want to seal the deal. Whatever that deal may be. No judgment.
What did I miss?
