Home of the Golden Buck Burger and famous Pig’s Dinner- For a blast from the past cruise on over with family and friends and let our friendly staff take care of you. Established circa 1940 by Elton ‘Fat’ Crosby and his wife,
Margaret, Crosby’s is an icon to many . There have only been three owners over this time frame so there is a sense of continuity and tradition that still carries on. The curre

nt owners, Jennifer and Tom Pappas, have done their best to maintain that legacy since they took it over in 1980 . Crosby's is a seasonal eatery that is open daily from 10:30 am - 8 pm from mid-April to Labor Day. Crosby’s menu offers a large of selection of seafood, burgers, sandwiches, salads and tasty Maine-made ice cream. Favorites include fried clams, homemade onion rings, fresh crabmeat rolls, and burgers made from fresh ground beef.

Good Morning People!
We appreciate Everyone who came out to dine with us Yesterday, and we do apologize for a few different hiccups....We ended up closing at 6 last night as we were fairly bogged down back in the kitchen, and wanted to make sure we were able to take care of everyone who had ordered.... If you stopped by after 6, We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience... Carriers was open next door, so hopefully you were able to get something for dinner nearby!!
This season we had a fairly substantial turn-over in staffing through the kitchen and as such- we are training the next Class in the ol' clam shack... So- All we ask is to please be patient with us as we acclimate- I PROMISE! We will be here ALL season for ya!
As such, with a new dynamic- Our Online as well as phone ordering could be intermittent for the short term as we learn how to do this whole cooking thing here; so again-apologies and patience!!!
We are very proud of what the (short-staffed) crew did last night.... Y'all pushed through a difficult and NEW for a bunch of Ya! Situation. Thank You for "toughing it out" guys! (it can only get easier with each day, right?)

Also just a headsup- we are still looking for 1-2 more people in the kitchen...experience isn't necessarily required, but helpful...! :)
I do have a few applications from some of Y'all, and should be reaching out this week..!

See Ya soon!

I would like to talk about 1938.

88 years ago, Bucksport was a small (Still is!) town with sturdy blue collar roots- Papermaking was an industry that started to grow here, The logging industry was still a rip-roaring market from the length of the Penobscot River on down. We built boats here, Farmed, Construction projects galore... Growth.

Elton "Fats" Crosby and his wife Margaret.
Now, IF the rumors are true- I don't really know for sure, I'm just a young whippersnapper (Some of our elder patrons probably know much more of the TRUE details than me!)

But! The legend around these parts states that Elton, whom people referred to as "Fats" had a food trailer and was on his way to the Blue Hill Fair to sell his tasty food. Misfortune in the way of a flat tire befell the entrepreneur on his journey to the Midway and stranded him on the side of the road.....
Triple A not being a thing- Poor Fats was stuck at the moment, trailer stranded, food waiting and ready to be sold.....
So, being the smarty-pants that he was; Elton set up shop RIGHT at that very spot where fate marooned him and the rest is history!

(Is this true? ehhhhhhhhh........)

However what we DO know is this-

Elton and his wife Margaret owned and operated Crosbys successfully for a number of years, through a couple wars and the growth of the country out of that.
Tom and Helen Christakos took the reins from the 60s and into the 70s, continuing to sell everyone's favorite summertime treats.
In 1980, Tom's nephew- Tom Pappas and his wonderful wife Jen Pappas became the 3rd owners of the storied Regional Institution called as always, Crosbys...
In 2020, Tom and Jen retired and handed the ol' Clam Shack off again, and here we are!

Things come and Go.
Places, People, Businesses, etc. That's life right?
There is one thing that I can say that seems to remain constant throughout the changes that this world throws at us...

Crosbys will be here. You can count on that!

So.

On that note- We are thrilled to ask You to stop on by and say hi, eat something greasy and delicious, and enjoy Crosbys yet again- as we are proud to open for our 88th season in business.....

TOMORROW!

See Ya soon, -the Crosbys Crew
