🌲⚓ A Buffalo Tradition Since 1953 ⚓🌲
Tonight’s Annual Tree Raising Ceremony at the Buffalo Yacht Club reminded me once again why this place feels like family.

There’s something magical about standing on the docks—cold air on our cheeks, warm lights reflecting off the water—watching a tradition that has brought generations of sailors, families, and friends together for more than 70 years.

As the tree rose against the winter sky, I couldn’t help but think of all the memories stitched into this ritual: the laughter, the stories, the bittersweet goodbyes to another season, and the hopeful promise of the next.

It’s more than a ceremony… it’s a moment where the past and present meet, where longtime members stand beside newcomers, and where our shared love for the lake and this community shines brightest.

Here’s to the Buffalo Yacht Club—its history, its heart, and the people who make it feel like home. 🌟

Happy Tree Raising Day! 🌲💙⚓

On Wednesday, December 10th, the Buffalo Yacht Club welcomed Katie Campos, Executive Director of the Riverworks Park Conservancy, for an engaging presentation on the ongoing transformation of our waterfront through the redevelopment of Ralph C. Wilson Park.

This new 100-acre signature park — our immediate neighbor — represents one of the most significant public space investments in Buffalo’s modern history.

Katie outlined how the Conservancy is working in partnership with the City of Buffalo, community stakeholders, and waterfront organizations like ours to create a vibrant, inclusive, and accessible destination for residents and visitors.

Members who would like to learn more about the Conservancy’s mission, current projects, and long-term vision can visit:
👉 Riverworks Park Conservancy Website: https://rwparkbuffalo.org

Katie also shared information on The Foolish Club, a special donor circle of engaged community members supporting the Conservancy’s work.

Contributions help advance programming, stewardship, education, and activation of this remarkable public space — all of which strengthen the character and vitality of the waterfront we share.

To explore the Foolish Club or make a donation:
👉 Foolish Club Information: https://rwparkbuffalo.org/foolish-club
(or navigate directly via the Conservancy’s website under the “Support” section)

As the Ralph C. Wilson Park project continues to evolve, the Buffalo Yacht Club has a unique opportunity to be part of this important civic moment.

Our proximity, history, and connection to the water make partnership and engagement especially meaningful.

We thank Katie for her time and insight, and we look forward to continued collaboration as this work moves forward.

✨ A Night to Remember at the Buffalo Yacht Club – Commodores Ball 2025 ✨

What an extraordinary evening we shared at this year’s Commodores Ball. The Buffalo Yacht Club was filled with warmth, laughter, friendship, and the unmistakable spirit of tradition that makes our community so special.

Special thanks to our 2025 Commodore, John Cosmann, and his wife, Michele, whose gracious leadership, dedication, and genuine kindness continue to inspire and strengthen our membership. To our wonderful membership, thank you. Your continued support, enthusiasm, and dedication are the heart of this club.

We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to our visiting Commodores and Vice Commodores. Your presence truly elevated the evening, and we are honored to share fellowship and celebrate the boating community with leaders who represent their clubs with such distinction. Your camaraderie is cherished, and your support means more than words can express.

From the first toast to the last dance, the night was a celebration not only of leadership and tradition, but of the friendships that bind us together on and off the water.

Here’s to smooth sailing, strong friendships, and many more unforgettable nights at the Buffalo Yacht Club. ⚓💙

🛶🌅 A Powerful Sight on the Water 🌅🛶

Yesterday, members of BYC were honored to witness the Seneca Chief pass by our club by boat — a meaningful and moving moment on the water.

Her presence served as a powerful reminder of the deep roots and rich heritage of the Seneca people, whose connection to these lands and waters runs generations deep.

We are grateful for the opportunity to witness this moment and reflect on the history and traditions that continue to shape our region.
