Our first Olive Egger just hatched and it’s a blue!

This is my absolute favorite plumage color and what I’m trying to breed for, so I will be keeping all of my blues for a while.

I’m open to selling any that come out in any other plumage colors!

There are only 9 in this hatch that are Rhode Island Red / Blue Easter Egger Cross.

The others are rainbow egger barnyard mixes: Black & Copper Maran, Blue Easter Egger, & Hyline Browns are the predominant mixed genetics of the darker brown eggs behind the light pink in the front!

The chicks that will be hatching from the blue eggs will be a complete surprise 🀭πŸ₯š

There is so much joy in living a simple life. I'm so grateful to be self employed. I pour my heart into my work everyday.

I've successfully rehabbed a laying hen this week and I pray I can save this little tom turkey, if I can keep him adequately hydrated until his eyes open back up.

We are so happy to officially announce that we are raising a breeding pair of emus! We are raising them for livestock protection and we plan on selling emu eggs and chicks in the future, too! We have decided to name them Simon & Betty.

We lost two birds this morning to predators, that’s 6 losses this week.

Even when things are hard, there is always more than enough to be thankful for. It is all worth it.

Every loss is an opportunity to learn something new and make our system better.

We have chicks hatching in less than two weeks and we just got a breeding pair of emu chicks and our last sheep.

All we can do is be thankful for what is going good, take the best care possible of everything we have and pray and work to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

The sheep are getting along well out here, look at this beautiful flock! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

I picked up my third and last ewe lamb yesterday from Redeeming Winds and now we are all set with a full flock of our own Katahdin/Dorper/Jacob cross sheep for a source of wool, meat, milk and rennet! We will probably start having some extra babies to sell within the next year, too! πŸ‘

This job requires zero sheep, but Butter was there for me the whole time in case I needed someone to hand me a tool!
