Mak here!
It recently occurred to me that not everyone grew up drinking tea. I want to make sure everyone can happily enjoy their tea, so here are a few tips for brewing tea!
Green tea is fickle and likes to turn bitter if you let it steep for too long. For a cup, it's recommended to only steep for 45 seconds. For a whole pot, I personally wouldn't suggest more than 3 minutes. If green tea steeps longer than that, you run the risk of it getting more bitter than a DC fan watching Batman Vs Superman.
Black tea is, thankfully, more forgiving. I wouldn't suggest letting a cup steep for more than 2 minutes. It gets strong pretty quickly. If you like it stronger than the Hulk, feel free to let it steep for 3 minutes or more. It will start to bite at the 3 minutes mark, so beware the Cujo tea. A pot can easily steep for 6 or 7 minutes.
If you get distracted or have a lot going on while your cup is steeping, don't fret! Simply add some honey until you beat your tea into submission with sweetness. They say to "kill them with kindness". Tea can be killed with sweetness.
Enjoy your tea, and don't stress. The point of tea is to relax.
