The Assistant Manager supervises restaurant staff and daily operations to ensure that food safety, product preparation, cleanliness and inventory control standards are maintained. The Assistant Manager maintains standards of restaurant safety and security. Exceptional customer service is a major component of this position. This position will mainly work opposing shifts to the store manager, including nights and weekends, to ensure proper training of the team, proper inventory and monetary controls, outstanding customer service, and more.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist the Restaurant Manager in daily operations of a high-volume Subway Restaurant
2. Supervises food preparation (backroom prep and front line customer service) to ensure that food safety and operations standards are maintained.
3. Coordinates and supervises staff so that standards of cleanliness are maintained
4. Manages a staff of approximately 8-12.
5. Performs paperwork duties and assists with product orders and inventory as needed.
Physical: Must be able to work any area of the restaurant when needed and to operate a computerized Point of Sale system/cash register. Position requires bending, standing, and walking the entire workday. Individual must have the ability to lift 10 pounds frequently and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
Overall, it is the expectation that, over time, the Assistant Manager, along with the Restaurant Manager, would learn to run this restaurant as if they owned it themselves yet understanding at the end of the day they still answer to the District Manager and, if needed, the Franchisee. They should be a self-starter, who can assess trends in business to determine the correct amounts of staffing, prep, and baking needed for that day. A solid Assistant Manager will be independent and able to “think on their feet.”
Requirements:
At least 6 days a week of open availability (starting as early as 8:00 AM and ending as late as 10:30 PM.
6 Months of Restaurant Supervisor Experience highly preferred, not required
ServSafe Manager Certification preferred, not required
