WHY WE RIDE — BIG NICK’S RIDE FOR THE FALLEN XVI
Good Morning — and Happy Big Nick’s Ride for the Fallen XVI Sunday.
Today is a day of honor, remembrance, and American pride.
The skies over Cape Cod are clear, the air is crisp, and you can feel it—Nick, God, and all of the Fallen have cooled the Cape and given us perfect riding weather. Everything is in place. The 35-mile route is marked, flags are flying, and the spirit of patriotism and purpose is alive and strong.
We begin this sacred day with a powerful opening ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office. Both the ceremony and the ride will be live-streamed, so whether you’re riding or watching from home, you can take part in this moving tribute to America’s heroes.
We ride for those who can no longer ride.
We ride for those still serving in harm’s way.
We ride to support the brave men and women who made it home—and live every day with the weight of sacrifice.
We ride to honor the Cape Cod Fallen 16, whose names we say with pride and reverence:
• US Army Staff Sergeant Alicia A. Birchett, Mashpee
• US Army Private First Class Paul E. Conlon, Mashpee
• US Navy Captain Gerald F. DeConto, Sandwich
• US Army Sergeant Alexander H. Fuller, Barnstable
• US Army Sergeant Matthew R. Gallagher, Falmouth
• US Navy SEAL Kevin A. Houston, Barnstable
• US Marine Captain Eric A. Jones, Mashpee
• US Marine Private First Class Becket Kiernan, Falmouth
• US Marine Private First Class Daniel A.C. McGuire, Mashpee
• US Army Sergeant Matthew A. Pucino, Bourne
• US Army Staff Sergeant Stephen A. Sprague, Yarmouth
• US Army Private First Class Clinton E. Springer II, Bourne
• US Army Sergeant Zachary D. Tellier, Falmouth
• US Army Sergeant Mark R. Vecchione, Eastham
• US Navy Commander Francis T. Williams, Sandwich
• US Marine Corporal Nicholas G. Xiarhos, Yarmouth
Rest in peace. We ride in your memory. We ride to honor your legacy.
People have come from across Massachusetts and beyond to be part of this ride. Veterans, military families, first responders, patriots, and everyday Americans—united by love of country and deep respect for sacrifice. They came to remember. They came to say thank you. They came to ride for freedom.
To every single person who helped make today possible—volunteers, sponsors, riders, and supporters—thank you. Your dedication, your time, and your heart are what keep this mission alive year after year.
If you’re not riding, you can still take part. Join us at the ceremony. Or line the route and show your support:
• Connery Avenue
• General MacArthur Boulevard
• Sandwich Road along the Canal
• Historic Route 6A through Bourne, Sandwich, Barnstable, and Yarmouth
• Setucket Road
• North Dennis Road
• North Main Street
• Station Avenue
The ride is led by the Massachusetts State Police Motor Unit, the Cape Cod Regional Motorcycle Unit, Patriot Cod Riders, veterans organizations, and Gold Star families in jeeps—followed by hundreds of proud Americans riding the wind in tribute.
This is more than a motorcycle ride. It’s a living memorial, a rolling message to the world that we will always remember our heroes and stand with their families.
Thank you for riding. Thank you for remembering.
