Celebrations All Around!
July 1st 1936 — July 1st 2026 90 Years on Highway G
Today we celebrate our Sweet Lorraine Caesar, founder of The Depot Restaurant & Tavern, and the remarkable legacy she began right here in Caledonia.
Lorraine and her husband Clarence Caesar originally operated and leased Caesar’s Southland Gardens — once Roy Goebel’s Saloon & Dance Hall — located across the street where our neighbors at Parker Power Equipment stand today.
With vision and determination, Lorraine partnered with local builder Al Lampe to design, develop, and build Caesar’s Tavern, known today as The Depot Restaurant & Tavern. A true trailblazer in 1936, Lorraine was ahead of her time — a woman shaping her community, her business, and her future with grit and grace.
Ninety years later, her spirit still fills these walls.
Today we celebrate her vision, her courage, and The Depot as it continues to thrive.
We appreciate our loyal staff, our customers, and everyone who has been part of this incredible journey.
