The Last Week of October Is Here!

October is coming to a close, and we’re getting ready for a little Halloween fun on Main Street!

Join us this Saturday from 3–6 PM for the annual Trick-or-Treating on Main Street in Califon. Stop by BEX Café at 52 Main Street or the Gryphon Gallery at 56 Main Street to say hello and pick up a sweet candy treat along the way!

Whether you’re dressed as a witch, a superhero, a favorite character, or simply enjoying the Halloween spirit, we’d love to see you. Bring the little ones, enjoy the festivities, and help us make this a fun afternoon for our community.

Ready to try something creative? Join fiber artist Carol Cheshire at Gryphon Gallery on Thursday, November 5, from 1–4 PM for a hands-on needle felting workshop!

Learn how to transform soft wool fibers into charming, textured creations in a welcoming, creative space. Perfect for beginners—no experience necessary!

Workshop fee: $50 per person, with an optional $10 kit available.

There’s something special about harvesting food from your own backyard. On our property, an old chestnut tree has been quietly providing its autumn harvest for years, and Chef Becky gathers its chestnuts just as she picks tomatoes and fresh herbs from her container gardens in summer.

In the kitchen, chestnuts bring a wonderful earthy sweetness to the table. Roast them until tender, fold them into a savory stuffing, add them to seasonal soups, or pair them with roasted root vegetables for a comforting fall dish.

At BEX, living in season is more than a culinary philosophy. It’s a way of life. It means appreciating what grows around us, making the most of what nature provides, and finding harmony in the simple rhythms of the seasons.

Sometimes, the most meaningful ingredients are growing right outside our door. 🍂
