The first photo was taken in 1991, when we met in Radiology school at Mount Sinai. We were just two young people with big dreams and no idea where life would take us.

Twenty-eight years ago today, on July 25, 1998, we said, “I do.”

Since then, we’ve built careers, raised two incredible sons, our greatest accomplishment, and stood by each other through every season of life. Marriage takes work, partnership, and a lot of patience!

Our journey certainly wasn’t glamorous in the beginning. There was a time when we had no other choice but to live in a tiny basement studio apartment in Queens. We didn’t have much, but we had each other, big dreams, and the determination to build a better life.

I didn’t marry a doctor, I supported Mark through becoming one. I worked multiple jobs while he was in school, doing everything I could to help him reach his dream. Years later, he did the same for me when I decided to chase mine and build Blue House Bagel Company.

When I told Mark I wanted to open Blue House Bagel Company, he wasn’t on board. We had a great life, and he asked, “Why rock the boat?”

But I knew I had to try.

We sold our home and even used part of Mark’s retirement savings to make it happen.

No inheritance. No trust funds. No GoFundMe. No big investors. Just two people willing to risk everything they had because they believed in a dream.

There were hard days, days I cried and questioned everything, but I kept going because failure wasn’t an option.

Our sons were also a huge part of this journey, helping in every way they could from the very beginning. It truly became a family effort.

Today, Blue House Bagel Company is an award-winning bakery. Mama Blue ships through Amazon and is now on the shelves at ShopRite in Canton.

Happy 28th Anniversary, Mark. Thank you for believing in me.

And a special thank you to my incredible team for holding down the fort. I couldn’t do any of this without you all!

And thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. You’re part of this story too. A HUGE PART. I didn’t have a marketing budget so I learned it. Every like, comment and share helps us grow!
