The Berry Field, Happy Critters Farm Located in Carlton, MN. This is a pick-your-own strawberry field. Strawberries are grown in an organic manner with no pesticides! Our open hours vary.

The temp is in the 80s but the breeze here is FANTASTIC and the picking is FAST. So come on out and get some strawberries. Grab some vanilla ice cream on the way home. And enjoy the evening 🍦🍓

🔥The extended forecast is showing a heat wave which is going to cause all of our fruit to ripen extremely quickly, we have no guarantee on season length. DON'T EXPECT US to be open our usual length this year, it is time to get to the fields to get your strawberries. 🍓

We hope to be open most days morning (8:30am-noon) and afternoons (4pm-8pm) but need to make that decision day by day so always call ahead and keep an eye on our page.

ALWAYS call the Berry Hotline before heading to the field 218-830-0846 ☎️
I will be putting out a post about traffic for opening. Please be on the lookout for that post.

-💲Price for 2026 is $4.80/lb. Cash or check only, but we do have an ATM on site

-🪣Bring your own container (but have it weighed at the stand if its not a standard ice cream pail) or grab a flat at the field and pay for it when you check out (each flat you pick into must be paid for, thank you for understanding)

-🙂Please have patience with us and our staff as we get you parked and into the fields . These youth are AMAZING and will do a great job. Please bring your great attituddes and grace as they work with the public (they're used to working with weeds).

-🐾No pets allowed. 🚭No smoking allowed.

-🍓😁Pick everything in your row that is ripe: Big or small, pick them all! You help us keep fruit from rotting and pests from our fields. If they have a white tip, you can leave them to ripen. Move the plants around for all the sneaky berries. Left, right, and middle - the whole row is yours!

This is the question we hear often. We can't predict it with this heat. Please come soon 😀 bring water (we do have some cups and a container of water at the stand). The strawberries are plentiful. You won't have to move far to fill your containers.

These are estimates for a level bucket/flat but can be helpful. (Price for 2026 is $4.80/lb). As the season continues, the berries tend to be smaller and fit more compactly, and therefore your weight increases. It can be a surprise if your pail weighted 4 # at one picking and then 6 # when you fill the same pail two weeks later! (Cash and check only - but we do have an ATM on site)
