The Pour House of Carnegie has long been a signature pub of classic Irish heritage for many years dating back to its inception in 1979. Dennis Murphy began the traditional style of serving spirits and pints of Ireland’s favorite ales and beers. After 32 years – having changed owners twice – the Pour House still operates with a following as traditional as the Pub itself. After 32 years, patrons wel

comed our revamped and refurbished interior, non smoking environment and the refreshing seasonal pleasure of our outside patio area. Newly renovated and revitalized, Riley’s Pour House in Carnegie, PA is the gathering place of Irish traditional celebrations, excellent Irish fare, Irish entertainment and fine Irish whiskeys and brews. Recently, we were recognized by the readers of Pittsburgh Magazine as the Pittsburgh's third best Pub and Pittsburgh's Best Irish Pub. Slainte!

Hello friends. We know it has been a while! We sure were hoping to be able to give you a more “concrete” update by now, or even better, that shovels in the ground could have told their own story. But unfortunately, that is not the case. We assure you we’ve been working nonstop since the fire to begin the rebuild of our beloved pub. But the reality is the price of rebuilding (materials, code upgrades, equipment and labor) is very expensive and significantly higher than our insurance settlement, especially after repayment of our mortgage, taxes and other expenses. Furthermore, lenders are tightening standards for the food-service sector. That combination has prevented us from moving as quickly as we all had wanted. But we have not given up. And we feel we are close on all fronts: finalizing insurance, redrawing plans and securing financing.

We want to thank you all for your continued patience and support. The Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Pour House event raised an amazing $75,000! After costs we have a little more than $55,000 which is held by the Friends of Riley’s Pour House. You can visit their website to see how and when those funds would be released for the rebuild. We additionally received $7,000 for the rebuild efforts from the Washington Wild Things event, and a few smaller donations all which is also held in a separate account only to be used for rebuilding.

So, rest assured, we are coming back to 215 E. Main Street, Carnegie! In the meantime, please continue to support your local small businesses, restaurants and musicians. It’stough out there! And, as always……

May the road rise up to meet you. May the wind be always at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face. May the rains fall soft upon your fields. May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

The Pour House here. We wanted to post today to say … WOW! Just—wow! The Raise a Glass to Rebuild Riley’s Event on Sunday at the Priory was absolutely amazing. The love in that room was palpable. And reciprocal. We love and appreciate you all. And we miss the Pub as much as you all do.
A huge THANK YOU to the Friends of Riley’s Pour House Committee, to John and Suzanne Graf and family, the Priory staff, the musicians, the donors and contributors, the volunteers, the business community of Carnegie, our elected officials… and YOU, our customers, for the continued support and for being what makes the Pour House truly special!
The Committee is working to count the receipts (as well as get back to their real jobs and lives!). It will have an update soon on the amount of money raised. You can visit Raise a Glass for Riley's Fundraiser at https://rileysrebuild.com/ for an explanation on transparency and accountability for those funds, which remain with the Committee and will only be dispersed as set forth on that page.
We also continue to work with our insurance company. Yes, we have insurance. Good insurance. But even with replacement value coverage, plus an annual cost of living adjustment, once the mortgage and other outstanding debts and bills were paid, and due to the cost of EVERYTHING significantly increasing from 2019 when we bought the Pub, insurance is capped and will not cover everything. Not even close.
But, rest assured, our commitment to rebuild is unwavering. We are working with our architect and a construction company for pre-construction estimating to finalize design and budget. The next steps will be construction drawings, bidding, approval from Carnegie and Allegheny County, and securing financing to rebuild. Then BREAKING GROUND!
Your continued love and support mean everything and inspire us to push forward, even on frustrating days. So, stay tuned. The best is still to come! Sláinte!
