Some people open businesses.
Some people quietly change the health and heartbeat of an entire community.
That’s what Hope Hawkins, owner of Asha Yoga, has done for Cave City and Barren County.
We presented Hope with the Zen Fuel award because I genuinely don’t think people realize how lucky we are to have what she’s built here. In many small towns, you simply don’t find a yoga studio with this level of care, consistency, professionalism, and heart. The quality of classes, the range of skill levels welcomed, the number of hours offered, and the environment her staff creates is something you’d expect in a much larger city - yet somehow, we get to have it right here at home.
The very first day I came home from the hospital after my accident, I texted Hope asking if there were stretches or movements I could safely do to help recovery and prevent blood clots. She was there within the hour. That kind of compassion isn’t something you can teach. It’s who she is.
Her studio became one of the biggest parts of my recovery journey. Not just physically, but mentally too. Hope is incredibly intelligent, deeply thoughtful, and one of those rare people who genuinely cares about our peace, our planet, our bodies, our history, and the energy we put into the spaces around us.
And honestly? I hate saying this because it sounds like a criticism of where we live, but Hope almost doesn’t fit in here… because what she offers feels so much bigger than what small towns are usually given access to. She brings the kind of wellness, mindfulness, inclusivity, and intentionality that people drive to Nashville, Louisville, or larger cities to find.
But she chose to build it here.
So thank you, Hope.
For helping people heal.
For creating space for people to breathe.
For raising the standard.
And for proving that small towns deserve beautiful things too. 🤍
