Well, it is done.
Our family is so grateful to the entire community that supported us, dined with us, shared with us, and helped make this experiment of a vegetarian Middle Eastern-based food truck in our little valley a success. We are so very grateful to Ethan, Ineke, Jeremy, and the whole grocery outlet family for not only hosting us but creating and maintaining a community based business in our little town. They do so much to provide us with the healthy choices that we like, and the ice cream we love ha ha Ha! Seriously, though, they have always been there for our family and for so many others in this community and our family owes a huge debt to them for giving us an opportunity to thrive economically in a time when doing so seemed impossible for so many of us.

It is unfortunate that we will not be able to hold a last week of food service as a thank you and celebration and fundraiser with the community due to the vandalism of our trailer this week. We have pulled the trailer out of grocery outlet into a safe space where we will be fine tuning it and placing it for sale in hopes that it will live on and be filled with someone creating amazing delicious food from their hearts to your bellies.

Thanks again Illinois Valley. Hopefully see you around this summer!

While we have felt a slight setback because of the thievery of some of our belongings, I actually came online today to post about this family and what thieves took from them, and the world.
The violence that ended Martin Luther King Jr.‘s life was terrible, tragic, and unfortunately not surprising. When you make a stand for love in the face of so much hate, for healing in a place of so much pain, and for change in hearts terrified of themselves, the King family was well aware of the threats they faced down. This never deterred them a single step.
We don’t only have to read his words, or hear his speeches, or see his actions, but be moved by them to act accordingly in our lives. Move with love, find the pain, create healing, and walk without fear stopping you.

Thank you Reverend Martin Luther King Junior, Coretta Scott King, and all of your beautiful family for everything you gave.

We are truly and deeply heartbroken in this moment. As you know, we have had to make the very tough decision to sell the food trailer and close our business due to physical and health. The last two weeks have seen Covid rip through our family and I, Michael, was personally down for days with a terrible sickness. Now that my symptoms have been gone for nearly a week and I am officially off of quarantine, I had set up a potential buyer to come see the trailer this week, a person who has been wanting to look at the trailer for a while.
Today I get a message from a dear friend who noticed that something was not right. Someone stole our water heater and they literally cut all of the lines. This is hundreds of dollars of damage and I don’t have it. This is time and energy to repair it, which I also do not have. I’m really sad because it hurts very bad to give what you have to give and someone take what they want with no regard.

This week at FOLK Food: THURSDAY and FRIDAY

Aloo Gobi ( curry spiced potatoes and cauliflower ) served over Basmati Pulao, fresh made chapati, and a small cup of Dal soup. All for $14!

Paneer Palak Pakora, with coriander mint chutney. Our delicious pakora with spinach and chunks of paneer cheese, with a spicy rich sauce.

Red Lentil Coconut Curry soup. Yuuuuuuum.

And the big reveal of our newest halvah…Peanut Butter Miso! Yes, we took Mido’s Miso combined with organic Peanut butter and added crushed honey roasted organic peanuts to our rich tahini fudge for an amazing combination of flavor and texture.
